Dylan is a more family-friendly spoof of the 1988 version of the musical, Carrie. The voices of several characters are changed to fit the genders and characters they're replaced by, for example, the voice of Carrie is changed to a male's voice in this spoof since Dylan replaces her.

Plot[]

Act I[]

Opening in a high school gym, the gym teacher, Fairy Godmother, is leading her gym class in a strenuous workout ("In"). After class, the students head to the locker room and have fun teasing a standard dylanuses named Dylan.

The students start to shower while talking about others and their plans for the upcoming prom ("Dream On"). Dylan has his first period in the shower and, not understanding what is happening, thinks he is bleeding to death. The others taunt him mercilessly until Fairy Godmother hears the commotion, sends the students away, and explains menstruation to Dylan.

On the way out of the gym, Emma and Ratigan talk about what just happened in the locker room. Emma is already feeling remorseful for her part in the incident, but Ratigan calls Dylan "Scary Beast." Dylan is hurt by their name-calling and teasing, but dreams of being vindicated and gaining respect from his peers ("Dylan").

Dylan's mother Mother Gothel is praying ("Open Your Heart") when Dylan arrives home. Dylan joins his mother in prayer for a few minutes and then explains what happened in the locker room. Mother Gothel tells Dylan that the blood is a sign of his sin ("And Eve Was Weak") and forces him into the private room to pray for forgiveness.

That night, many of the high school students are at the drive-in theater, including Emma and her friend Zelda, along with Ratigan and his girlfriend Rita. Emma tells Zelda that she is still upset about what she and the others did to Dylan in the locker room, while Ratigan complains about Dylan to Rita ("Don't Waste the Moon"). While the students and others are at the drive-in, Dylan and Mother Gothel are home praying ("Evening Prayers"). Mother Gothel prays for the strength to help her son while Dylan, depressed, questions God's love for him. Mother Gothel apologizes for hurting Dylan and assures him that she loves him unconditionally.

At school the following day, Fairy Godmother tells the students they must all apologize to Dylan. Emma and the others comply, but Ratigan refuses. Upset, Fairy Godmother tells Ratigan that he will not be allowed to go to the prom, and Ratigan vows revenge. Fairy Godmother encourages Dylan to dream about his princess ("Unsuspecting Hearts").

Still upset over the way Dylan has been treated, Emma asks Zelda to take Dylan to the prom instead of Rita ("Do Me a Favor"), and he reluctantly agrees. At the same time, Ratigan asks Rita, who's upset about not being invited as well, to help him get revenge on Dylan.

Zelda surprises Dylan by knocking on her door and asking him to go to prom. Though at first confused and uneasy, Dylan eventually agrees to go with her. When he tells his mother the news ("Invited"), Mother Gothel forbids him to go, insisting that all students just want to take advantage of anyone average, including his own father ("I Remember How They Could Dance"), and the prom would be an occasion of sin. Dylan reveals her supernatural powers, telling his mother that he is determined to attend the prom and will not be stopped.

Act II[]

The act opens at a pig farm while a storm rages, where Ratigan, Rita, and several of their friends are on a mission ("Out for Blood"). For their planned revenge on Dylan, they kill a beast (imagine any living, extinct, or imaginary beast here) and collect its blood. Back at the high school, Emma is confronted by others who are upset that Dylan is going to the prom. Emma believes Dylan is doing the right thing but realizes that doing the right thing is not always easy ("It Hurts to be Strong").

Getting ready for the prom, Dylan dreams about his date and, in a positive display of his special powers, he sends his outfit, shoes, and hairbrush dancing through the air ("I'm Not Alone"). Mother Gothel tries one more time to convince Dylan not to go to the prom ("Dylan (Reprise)"), but Dylan doesn't listen. He leaves for the prom with Zelda. Alone, Mother Gothel plans to save Dylan from damnation the only way she can ("When There's No One").

Dylan and Zelda arrive at the prom ("Wotta Night") and everyone is surprised at how handsome Dylan is. Fairy Godmother is there as a chaperone and talks to Dylan about how it feels to be in love ("Unsuspecting Hearts (Reprise)"). Dylan is nervous about dancing with Zelda, but she finally convinces him to go out on the dance floor with her ("Heaven"). As the votes for prom king and queen are cast, Dylan, Zelda, Emma, Ratigan, Rita, and Fairy Godmother soliloquize about the events unfolding ("Heaven (Reprise)"). Dylan and Zelda are declared king and queen of the prom, and they are crowned as the students sing the "Alma Mater".

Suddenly, Ratigan and Rita appear and dump a bucket of beast blood on Dylan. Humiliated and incensed, Dylan realizes his full powers, with his shadow forming into Lucifer Magnes' shadow. He closes off the gym exit and kills everyone present ("The Destruction"). After Dylan leaves the prom, he is met by his mother, who somehow followed him into the school. Mother Gothel comforts her son ("Dylan (2nd Reprise)") and then stabs him fatally, thinking it will save Dylan's soul. Dylan retaliates, killing Mother Gothel with his powers, and he apologizes as his mother dies. Emma, the sole survivor who escaped this massacre, finds Dylan and comforts him as he dies.
