Fred: Legend of the Seven Seas (also known as Alfred Valentyne) is a 2003 American animated adventure film produced by Ragdoll Productions, Hit Entertainment and Thirteen WNET York and distributed by 20th Century Fox, using traditional animation with some computer animation. It was directed by Andrew Davenport and Anne Wood from a screenplay by Gavin Nyenhuis, and stars the voices of Billy Rosenberg, Sara Hickman, Linda Ballantyne, and Darcy Wilder Smith. The film covers the story of Fred (voiced by Rosenberg), a boy who travels the sea with his frog and his loyal friend Kristen (voiced by Hickman) to recover the lost Book of Peace from Wicked (voiced by Ballantyne) to save his childhood friend, Mo (voiced by Wilder Smith), from accepting Fred’s death sentence. The film blends elements from the 1001 Arabian Nights and classical myths.
