Granny May is a villain in WordGirl
She uses the alias Granny May when committing crimes. She poses as a sweet, hard hearing old lady, but really is a master thief. Everyone but WordGirl is usually fooled by this charade. The devious granny once even managed to turn the entire city against WordGirl until the heroine was able to expose her as a liar.
Her main weapon of choice is her knitting needles that she keeps in her hair. In use, they shoot out nearly unbreakable purple yarn that she can use to bind someone in place, grab things from a distance (in a whip-like fashion) and even shape-shift as objects such as a make-shift trampoline
