Great-Grey-Owl-Pictures.jpg

The Great grey owl (Strix nebulosa) feeds mainly on small rodents, and is able to accurately locate prey under two feet of snow. Great grey owls can be found in dense coniferous forests across much of the northern hemisphere. Great grey owls have the largest facial disk of any bird of prey. When food is scarce the female great grey owl will starve in order to feed her chicks, and may lose up to a third of her body weight.
