Imagination Island (Steve & Friends)

Bedtime with Steve: Imagination Island, also known as Steve's Imagination Island, is a special spun-off to Steve & Friends.

Plot[]

Keiko and Lynese are having a sleepover; and Teacher Harriet reads them a story about a mystical place called "Imagination Island" unable to finish the story. When Steve comes to life, he shows the two girls that they can go on a sailing adventure if they use their imaginations. With that, Steve mystically takes them on deck aboard a huge ship destined for Imagination Island. Along the way, they meet up with Kenny, James, D.W., and Tommy. As the ship sails closer to the island, a big storm causes a huge tidal wave to knock the ship up onto some palm trees on the island.

While D.W. and Tommy stay on the ship, Steve and the children go explore the island. After hiking through the island's jungle, they eventually find a tropical house where they meet Greg, Steve's Australian counterpart, and a toy inventor who doesn't like to share his creations. He explains to the group the he moved to Imagination Island to be alone with his toys.

Greg shows the group his new balloon maker that does not properly work. After Lynese realizes that her heart-shaped locket is the key to make the machine work, she gives the monster her locket. Through the process, Steve helps him understand that sharing with others makes people happy. By finally sharing different toys with the group, Greg realizes that making other people happy makes him happy too. Wanting to leave the island himself, Greg agrees to help the explorers get off the island. After a moment of thinking, Greg gets an idea of how to get the ship out of the trees. They can fly back with help from his balloon machine.

The group returns to the ship where Greg inflates many balloons to attach to the ship. Greg takes control of the ship, and the ship flies up to the sky. D.W. and Tommy return home, and Steve reminds the kids the importance of home.

Later, the ship reaches back home, and Steve and the kids leave. With Lynese and Keiko falling asleep, the ship sails off into the night sky with Greg heading to build a new toy factory.

This is the first time not to include Steve Theme Song (although it was heard as a score when Steve greets Lynese and Keiko).
This special takes place before Steve Live! In New York City.
This marks the first appearance of Greg. He would later return to the stage show tour, Steve's Big Surprise to show Steve, D.W., Tommy, and the audience his brand new toy factory.
This is the only time not to feature any of Steve's signature songs ("Steve Theme Song" and "I Love You").
This group (Keiko, Lynese, James and Kenny) also appeared in "May I Help You?".
This special marks the last regular appearance of James until the Season 3 episode On the Move.
This is the fourth time no one says goodbye to Steve before he turns back into a doll.
