Lord Voldemort is the main antagonist of the Harry Potter book/movie series.
As a child, he was known as Tom Marvolo Riddle and his mentor was Professor Albus Dumbledore. He also had the ability to talk to snakes via Parsletongue.
Lord Voldemort is responsible for the deaths of many people, including Harry Potter's parents, James and Lily Potter. When Voldemort attempted to kill the infant Harry Potter, his killing curse backfired due to Lily's protective sacrifice when she sacrificed her life to protect her son, his body was destroyed and his soul split and the child was left with a lightning bolt-shaped scar on his forehead.
He owns a pet snake named Nagini.
