Also known as nutria, the coypu (Myocastor coypus) is a large species of rodent. Female nutria's give birth to an average of about 5 young, 2 to 3 times a year. Primarily herbivorous, nutria’s mainly eat aquatic vegetation but are known to eat shellfish in certain habitats. Originally from South America, the nutria has been introduced to many places around the world including North America, Asia, and Europe.
