Thomas Gets Tricked (Ringo Starr-US)[]

  • Narrator: (Thomas is shown) Thomas is a tank engine, (Thomas's eyes spin round) who lives at a big station on the Island of Sodor. (Thomas blinks) He's a cheeky little engine, with six small wheels, (Thomas's wheels are shown) a short stumpy funnel, a short stumpy boiler, and a short stumpy dome. (Thomas's funnel, boiler, and dome are shown. Thomas is seen, pulling a green and yellow coach and Catherine the Coach into Platform 1 at Knapford station) He's a fussy little engine too. Always pulling coaches about ready for the big engines to take on long journeys. (Henry, coupled to his green and yellow coach, Catherine the Coach, Annie, and Clarabel, pulls out of the station) And when trains come in, he pulls the empty coaches away, so that the big engines can go and rest. (Thomas pulls Stephen's coaches bunker first into the station and passes Edward. Later, as Edward goes by with the Breakdown Train, James follows with a boxcar and a caboose) Thomas thinks no engine works as hard as he does. (Thomas goes by, hauling Stephen's coaches) He loves playing tricks on them. (Gordon is now shown) Including Gordon, the biggest and proudest engine of all. (Thomas's whistle is shown) Thomas likes to tease Gordon with his whistle. (Thomas's whistle blows)
  • Thomas: Wake up, lazybones! Why don't you work hard like me?! (reverses backward)
  • Narrator: (Gordon puffs along, hauling a red and yellow Express coach and Old Slow Coach) One day, after pulling the big Express, Gordon had arrived back at the sidings, very tired. (Thomas backs into a siding, shunting seven freight cars and a caboose) He was just going to sleep when Thomas came up in his cheeky way. (Thomas whistles so many times)
  • Thomas: Wake up, lazybones! Do some hard work for a change! You can't catch me! (puffs away, leaving his freight cars and caboose with Gordon)
  • Narrator: And off Thomas ran laughing. Instead of going to sleep again, Gordon thought he could get back at Thomas.
  • (the title says 'Next Morning.')
  • Narrator: (at Tidmouth sheds, a tired Thomas is shown) One morning, Thomas wouldn't wake up. (a tired Thomas has been drunk) His driver and fireman couldn't make him start. (Thomas's firebox is out) And there was not enough steam. (Thomas's driver and fireman are sad) It was nearly time for the Express. (outside Knapford station, Gordon is waiting with three coaches (a red and yellow coach at the front, a red and white Knapford coach in the middle, and Spencer's red Express coach at the back and all coupled together) waiting too) People were waiting, but the coaches weren't ready. (a tired Thomas puffs slowly out of the shed) At last, Thomas started.
  • Thomas: (tired) Oh dear. Oh dear.
  • Narrator: He yawned. He fussed into the station where Gordon was waiting. (Thomas buffers up to the end of the Express train)
  • Gordon: Hurry up, you.
  • Narrator: Said Gordon.
  • Thomas: Hurry yourself.
  • Narrator: Replied Thomas. (Thomas reverses, pulling the three Express coaches with him) Gordon the Proud Engine began making his plan to teach Thomas a lesson for teasing him. (Gordon goes onto the same track as Thomas and the Express coaches are) Almost before the coaches had stopped moving, (Gordon reverses quickly and gets coupled to the front of the Express train) and was coupled to the train.
  • Gordon: Get in quickly, please.
  • Narrator: He whistled. (Gordon whistles) Thomas usually pushed behind the trains to help them start, but he was always uncoupled at first. (the Express coaches move and so does a tired Thomas) This time, Gordon started so quickly they forgot to uncouple Thomas. Gordon's chance had come! (Gordon puffs out of the station, pulling a still tired Thomas. Gordon speeds up and rattles, pulling his three Express coaches, and a still tired Thomas)
  • Gordon: Come on, come on. (rattles along, hauling his three Express coaches, and a now surprised Thomas)
  • Narrator: Puffed Gordon to the coaches. (Gordon, his three Express coaches, a surprised Thomas, speed through a tunnel) The train went faster and faster. Too fast for Thomas. He wanted to stop, but he couldn't.
  • Thomas: Peep peep! Stop! Stop!
  • Gordon: Hurry, hurry, hurry! (thunders down the line with his three Express coaches and a surprised Thomas)
  • Narrator: Laughed Gordon.
  • Coaches: You can't get away! You can't get away!
  • Narrator: Laughed the coaches. (a surprised Thomas is still running with the coaches and Gordon) Poor Thomas was going faster than he had ever gone before. He was out of breath and his wheels hurt him, but he had to go on. (Gordon, his Express coaches, and a surprised Thomas, rattle over the bridge)
  • Thomas: (tired) I shall never be the same again. He thought sadly. My wheels will be quite worn out.
  • (Gordon is shown, puffing along)
  • (Gordon thunders toward another station, hauling his three Express coaches and a surprised Thomas with him)
  • Narrator: At last, they stopped at a station. (Gordon, hauling his three Express coaches, stops at Wellsworth) Thomas was uncoupled and he felt very silly and exhasuted. (a surprised Thomas, now uncoupled, goes onto a turntable) Next, he went onto a turntable, thinking of everyone laughing at him. (a tired Thomas is turned onto the turntable) Then he went onto a siding out of the way. (a tired Thomas reverses off the turntable)
  • Gordon: Well, little Thomas. (a tired Thomas backs alongside him)
  • Narrator: Chuckled Gordon. (a tired Thomas stops)
  • Gordon: Now you know what hard work means, don't you?
  • Narrator: Poor Thomas couldn't answer. He had no breath. (a tired Thomas puffs away) He just puffed slowly away to rest, (a tired Thomas puffs over to a water tower) and had a long, long drink. (a tired Thomas grabs a bottle of water, opens the lid, and drinks his water)
  • Thomas: (trundles home, very slowly, and very tired) Maybe I don't have to tease Gordon to feel important.
  • Narrator: Thomas thought to himself. And he puffed slowly home.

Edward Helps Out (Ringo Starr-US)[]

  • Narrator: One day, Edward was in the shed where he live with the other engines. They were all bigger than Edward and boasted about it. (a tired Edward is shown at Tidmouth sheds with James, Gordon, Henry, and a tired Thomas)
  • Gordon: The driver won't choose you again.
  • Narrator: Said Gordon.
  • Gordon: He wants strong engines like us.
  • Narrator: But the driver and fireman felt sorry for Edward.
  • Driver: Would you like to come out today?
  • Edward: Oh yes, please.
  • Narrator: Said Edward. So they lit his fire, made lots of steam and Edward puffed away. (Edward puffs away, looking happy, plus a happy Thomas, except Henry, Gordon, and James) The other engines were very cross of being left behind. (Edward puffs along the main line, hauling a green and yellow coach, Catherine the Culdee coach, and a red Sodor Brass Band coach, speeds underneath a bridge, and comes out of the other side) Edward worked hard all day. The coaches thought he was very kind (Edward's driver is pleased) and the driver was very pleased. (Edward puffs into the sunset)
  • Edward: I'm going out again tomorrow.
  • Narrator: Edward told the other engines that night.
  • Edward: What do you think at that?
  • Narrator: But he didn't hear what they thought, (the others engines are not impressed, except for a happy Thomas, who is pleased) for he was so tired and happy that he fell asleep at once. (Edward falls asleep) Next morning, Edward woke up to find nothing had change. (the engines all awaken) Gordon was still boasting.
  • Gordon: You watch me, little Edward, as I rush through with the express. That will be a splendid sight for you. (puffs away) Goodbye, little Edward. Look out for me this afternoon.
  • Narrator: Edward went off to do some shunting. (Edward puffs away) He liked shunting. It was fun playing with freight cars. (a freight car is shunted) He would come out quietly and give them a push. (Edward bumps more freight cars together) Then he would stop, and the silly freight cars will go bump into the each other. (the freight cars bump each other)
  • Cars: Oh!
  • Narrator: They cried.
  • Cars: Whatever is happening?
  • Narrator: Edward played till there were no more freight cars. (various shots of Edward shunting freight cars are shown) Then he stopped to rest. (Edward stops to rest) Presently, he heard a whistle. (Edward hears a whistle) Gordon was very cross. Instead of shiny new coaches, he was pulling a very dirty freight train. (Gordon puffs by, hauling eight freight cars and a caboose)
  • Gordon: A freight train, a freight train, a freight train!
  • Narrator: He grumbled.
  • Gordon: The shame of it, the shame of it, oh, the shame of it!
  • Narrator: Edward laughed and went to find some more freight cars. (Edward puffs away) Then, there was trouble.
  • Porter: Gordon can't get up the hill.
  • Narrator: The porter called to Edward's Driver.
  • Porter: Will you take Edward and push him please? (Edward puffs onward to reach the hill)
  • Narrator: They found Gordon halfway up, and very cross. His driver and fireman were talking to him severely. (Edward stops and sees Gordon stuck)
  • Driver: You're not trying.
  • Gordon: I can't do it!
  • Narrator: Said Gordon.
  • Gordon: The noisy freight cars hold an engine back so!
  • Narrator: Edward's driver came up.
  • Driver: We've come to push.
  • Gordon: No use at all!
  • Narrator: Said Gordon.
  • Driver: You wait and see.
  • Narrator: Replied Edward's driver. (Gordon brings the train back down to the bottom of the hill) They brought the train back to the bottom of the hill. (Edward puffs upward and buffers up)
  • Edward: I'm ready.
  • Narrator: Said Edward.
  • Gordon: No good.
  • Narrator: Grumbled Gordon. They pulled and pushed as hard as they could. (Gordon sets off, hauling the freight cars and caboose with him, and with Edward pushing from behind)
  • Gordon: I can't do it, I can't do it, I can't do it!
  • Narrator: Puffed Gordon.
  • Edward: I will do it, I will do it, I will do it!
  • Narrator: Puffed Edward. Edward pushed and puffed and puffed and pushed as hard as ever he could. And almost before he realized it, Gordon found himself at the top of the hill. (Gordon speeds over the top)
  • Gordon: I've done it, I've done it, I've done it! (a tired Edward follows)
  • Narrator: He said proudly. He forgot all about kind Edward and didn't say thank you. (Gordon speeds through Maron station) Edward was left out of breath and far behind, (Edward puffs over a viaduct) but he was happy because he had been so helpful. (Edward runs through Maron station) At the next station, he found that the driver and fireman were very pleased with him. (Edward stops) The fireman gave him a nice long drink and the driver said... (a tired Edward grabs a coke can and drinks his coke)
  • Driver: I'll get out my paint tomorrow, and give you your beautiful coat of blue with red stripes, then you'll be the smartest engine in the shed.

Mavis (George Carlin)[]

  • Narrator: Mavis is a diesel engine who works at the quarry company shunting freight cars in their sidings. She has six small wheels hidden by sideplates just like Toby's. Mavis is young and full of her own ideas. She loves rearranging things too and began putting Toby's cars in different places every day. (Mavis pulls and pushes lots of freight cars in the yard, which makes Toby cross) This made Toby cross.
  • Toby: Freight cars...
  • Narrator: He grumbled.
  • Toby: ...should be where you want them when you want them.
  • Mavis: Fiddlesticks!
  • Narrator: Said Mavis and flounced away. At last, Toby lost patience. (Mavis leaves crossily)
  • Toby: I can't waste time playing "Hunt The Cars" with you. Take them yourself. (Toby scolds away with Henrietta, Victoria, Elsie, three boxcars, and a caboose)
  • Narrator: Mavis was pleased. Taking cars made her feel important. At the station, Diesel oiled up to her. (Diesel oils up, hauling eleven freight cars)
  • Mavis: Toby's an old fusspot.
  • Narrator: She complained. Diesel sense trouble and was delighted.
  • Mavis: Toby says only steam engines can manage freight cars.
  • Narrator: Continued Mavis.
  • Diesel: How observe.
  • Narrator: Squirmed Diesel.
  • Diesel: Depend upon it, Mavis. Anything steam engines can do, we diesels can do better. (Diesel leaves)
  • Narrator: Diesel knew nothing about cars, but Mavis didn't realize this. Toby's line crosses the main road behind the station, and for a short way follows a farm lane. Frosty weather makes the mud rock-hard and very slippery. Toby stops before reaching the lane. (Toby arrives with Henrietta, Victoria, and Elsie, and nine freight cars, and a caboose) His fireman halts the traffic at the level crossing and then he sets off again. (the traffic gets stopped while Toby, his two coaches, his boxcar, freight cars, and caboose) By using the heavy cars to push him along, he has no trouble with the frosty rails and the lane and across the road. It is the only thing safe thing to do in this kind of weather. Toby warned Mavis and told her just what to do.
  • Mavis: I can manage, thank you.
  • Narrator: She replied.
  • Mavis: I'm not an old fusspot like you.
  • Narrator: (Mavis takes nine freight cars and a caboose down toward the lane and stops in the wrong place) The freight cars were tired of being pushed around by Mavis.
  • Freight Cars: It's slippery.
  • Alec Baldwin: They whispered.
  • Freight Cars: Let's push her around instead. On, on, on!
  • Alec Baldwin: They yelled. Mavis took no notice. Instead, she brought the cars carefully down the lane and stopped at the level crossing. (Terence and Bertie arrive) All traffic halted.
  • Mavis: One of the headlamp for fusspot Toby.
  • Narrator: Chortled Mavis. But Mavis had stopped in the wrong place. Instead of taking Toby's advice, she had given the cars the chance they wanted.
  • Freight Cars: Hold back! Hold back!
  • Narrator: They cried.
  • Mavis: Grrrr up!
  • Narrator: Ordered Mavis. The cars just laughed and her wheels spun headlessly. Workmen sanded the rails and dig away the frozen mud, but it was no good. Everyone was impatient. (Mavis struggles to get up the hill, but ends up staying in the wrong, and thinks helplessly)
  • Mavis: Grrrr agh!
  • Narrator: Wailed Mavis. Toby was in the yard when he heard the news.
  • Toby: I warned her.
  • Narrator: He fumed.
  • Toby's Driver: She's young yet.
  • Narrator: Soothed his driver.
  • Toby's Driver: And...
  • Toby: She can manage her cars herself.
  • Narrator: Interrupted Toby.
  • Toby's Driver: They're your cars really.
  • Narrator: His driver replied.
  • Toby's Driver: Mavis is suppose to stay at the quarry if Sir Topham Hatt finds out.
  • Toby: Mmmm, yes.
  • Narrator: Said Toby thoughtfully. He and his driver agreed that would be best to help Mavis after all. (Toby sets off to find Mavis) An angry farmer was telling Mavis just what she could do with her train.
  • Toby: Having trouble Mavis?
  • Narrator: Chortled Toby.
  • Toby: I am surprised.
  • Mavis: Grrrr osh!
  • Narrator: Said Mavis. (Toby couples up in front of Mavis and the cars and starts to push them back up) With much puffing and wheels slipped, Toby pushed Mavis and the freight cars back. The hard work made his fire burn fiercely, and his fireman spread hot cinders to melt the frozen mud. (Toby rescuing Mavis) At last they finished.
  • Toby: Goodbye!
  • Narrator: Called Toby.
  • Toby: You'll managed now, I expect.
  • Narrator: Mavis didn't answer. (Mavis shunts the freight cars in the shed and leaves them behind and scuttles to the shed) She took the cars to the sheds, and scuttled home to the quarry as quickly as she could.

Percy's Ghostly Trick (Ringo Starr-US)[]

  • (Owl hooting twice)
  • (Ghost whistle blows. A ghost train appears)
  • Percy: And every year on the date of the accident, it runs again as a warning to others, plunging into the gap, shrieking like a lost soul.
  • Thomas: Percy what are you talking about? (while pulling seven freight cars and a caboose)
  • Percy: (while pulling four freight cars and a caboose) The ghost train. Driver saw it last night.
  • Thomas and Toby: (with Thomas pulling his seven freight cars and caboose and Toby pulling Henrietta) Where?
  • Narrator: Asked Thomas and Toby.
  • Percy: (while pulling his four freight cars and caboose) He didn't say, oh it makes my wheels wobble to think of it.
  • Thomas: Pooh!
  • Narrator: Said Thomas. (while coupled to seven freight cars and a caboose)
  • Thomas: You're just a silly little engine. I'm not scared. (puffs away, taking his seven freight cars and caboose)
  • Percy: Thomas didn't believe in ghosts.
  • Narrator: Said Percy next morning. His driver laughed.
  • Percy's Driver: Neither do I. It was only a pretend ghost story.
  • Narrator: (a tired Percy is not pleased) Percy was disappointed. That evening, he came back from the harbour. (Percy comes back from the harbour, taking his four freight cars and caboose) Percy knew where he was, even in the dark.
  • Percy: Crowe's Farm Crossing. We shan't be long now.
  • Narrator: He liked running at night. The rails hummed and the signal light shone green. But a broken cart load of lime lay ahead. Sam the Farmer had just gone for help.
  • (Percy's whistle toots and a loud crash is heard as a tired Percy hits the cart)
  • Narrator: Percy broke the cart to smithereens. Lime flew everywhere. He puffed quickly to the nearest signal box. Percy's driver explained what had happened.
  • Signalman: I'll see to it.
  • Narrator: Said the Signalman.
  • Signalman: But you better clean Percy, or people will think he's a ghost.
  • Narrator: Percy chuckled.
  • Percy: Do let's pretend I'm a ghost and scared Thomas. That'll teach him to see I'm a silly little engine.
  • Narrator: Toby promised to help.
  • (Toby, pulling Henrietta, leaves Percy, and heads back to the sheds)
  • Narrator: Thomas was being oiled up for his evening train.
  • Toby: Percy's had an accident! (arrives, hauling Henrietta)
  • Narrator: Cried Toby.
  • Thomas: Poor engine.
  • Narrator: Said Thomas.
  • Thomas: Botheration! That means I'll be late!
  • Toby: They've cleared the line for you, but there's something worse.
  • Thomas: Out with it, Toby, I can't wait all evening.
  • Toby: I've just seen something.
  • Narrator: Said Toby.
  • Toby: It looked like Percy's ghost. It said it was coming here to warn us.
  • Thomas: Pooh! Who cares? Don't be frightened, Toby. I'll take care of you.
  • (We can hear Percy's whistle and a loud brake sound)
  • Percy: (ghostly voice) Peep, peep, peep-peep-peep, peep! (a surprised Thomas hears Percy's ghostly voice) Let me in, let me in!
  • Narrator: Wailed Percy.
  • Toby: No, no! Not by the smoke on my chimney chim chim!
  • Percy: (ghostly voice) I'll chuff and I'll puff and I'll break your door in!
  • (The doors open and reveal Percy all along)
  • Thomas: (surprised) Oh dear!
  • Narrator: Explained Thomas.
  • Thomas: (surprised) It's getting late. Oh, I have no idea. Oh, I must find Annie and Clarabel. (a surprised Thomas flees)
  • Narrator: It was morning when Thomas returned. (a tired Thomas returns, hauling Annie and Clarabel, and stops at Tidmouth sheds, just to meet up with Toby and Henrietta)
  • Toby: Where have you been?
  • Narrator: Asked Toby.
  • Thomas: (tired) Ah well.
  • Narrator: Said Thomas.
  • Thomas: (tired) I knew you be sad about Percy, and I, um, I didn't like to intrude. I slept in the freight shed and...
  • (Percy's whistle is heard again, along with a ghostly one)
  • Thomas: (surprised) Oh, sorry, can't stop. Gotta see a coach about a train. (Thomas flees, taking Annie and Clarabel with him)
  • Narrator: Percy was non a worse for his adventure, and was still enjoying himself enormously. He had heard everything. (Percy arrives, hauling his four freight cars and a caboose)
  • Percy: Well, well, well! What do you know about that?
  • Toby: Anyone would think...
  • Narrator: Chuckled Toby.
  • Toby: ...that our Thomas was just seen a ghost!

Woolly Bear (Ringo Starr-US)[]

  • Narrator: In the summer, the work crews cut the long grass along the tracks raking it into heaps to dry in the sun. At this time of year, Percy stops where they have been cutting. The men load up his empty wagons and he pulls them to the station.
  • (Percy's whistle toots as he takes nine hay cars to Toby and Henrietta to take)
  • Narrator: Toby then takes them to the hills for the farmers to feed their stock.
  • (Toby's bell rings as he and Henrietta take the nine cars toward the hills to help the farmers to feed their stock)
  • Percy: Wheeeeeeeesh!
  • Narrator: Percy gave a ghostly whistle.
  • Percy: Don't be frightened, Thomas.
  • Narrator: He laughed.
  • Percy: It's only me!
  • Thomas: Your ugly face is enough to frighten anyone.
  • Narrator: Said Thomas.
  • Thomas: You're like...
  • Percy: Ugly indeed. I'm...
  • Thomas: A green caterpillar with red stripes.
  • Narrator: Continued Thomas firmly.
  • Thomas: You crawl like one too.
  • Percy: I don't!
  • Thomas: Who's been late every afternoon this week?
  • Percy: It's the hay.
  • Thomas: I can't help that.
  • Narrator: Said Thomas.
  • Thomas: Time's time, and Sir Topham Hatt relies on me to keep it. I can't if you crawl in the hay till all hours. (Thomas puffs away with Annie and Clarabel)
  • Percy: Green caterpillar indeed. (takes eight empty hay cars to the harbour to collect some hay)
  • Narrator: Fumed Percy, as he set off to collect some hay to take to the harbour.
  • Percy: Everyone says I'm handsome, or at least nearly anyone. Anyway, my curves are better than Thomas' corners. Thomas says i'm always late.
  • Narrator: He grumbled.
  • Percy: I'm never late, or at least only a few minutes. What's that to Thomas? He can always catch up time farther on.
  • Narrator: All the same, he and his driver decided to start home early. Then came trouble.
  • (The crate of treacle appears held by a crane before it falls down and lands on Percy with a loud Wham!)
  • Narrator: A crate of treacle was upset all over Percy. Percy was cross. He was still sticky when he puffed away. The wind was blowing fiercely. (Percy sets off with his eight freight cars and caboose to find Thomas and his coaches)
  • Percy's Driver: Look at that!
  • Narrator: Explained the driver. The wind caught the piled hay, tossing it up and over the track. The line climbed here.
  • Percy's Driver: Take a run at it, Percy.
  • Narrator: His driver advised. Percy gathered speed. But the hay made the rails slippery and his wheels wouldn't grip. Time after time he stalled with spinning wheels and had to wait until the line ahead was cleared before he could start again. Everyone was waiting. Thomas seethed impatiently.
  • Thomas: Ten minutes late. I warned him. Passengers will complain and Sir Topham Hatt.
  • Narrator: Then they all saw Percy. (everyone laughing) They laughed and shouted.
  • Percy: Sorry I'm late.
  • Narrator: Percy panted.
  • Thomas: Look what's crawled out of the hay!
  • Narrator: Teased Thomas.
  • Percy: What's wrong?
  • Narrator: Asked Percy.
  • Thomas: Talk about hairy caterpillars.
  • Narrator: Puffed Thomas.
  • Thomas: It's worth been late to have seen you.
  • Narrator: When Percy got home, his driver showed him what he looked like in the mirror.
  • Percy: Bust my buffers! No wonder they all laughed. I'm just look like a woolly bear. Please clean me before Toby comes. (Thomas and Toby arrive)
  • Narrator: But it was no good. Thomas told Toby all about it. Instead of talking about sensible things like playing ghosts, Thomas and Toby made jokes about woolly bear caterpillars, and other creatures which crawled about in hay. They laughed a lot, but Percy thought they were really being very silly indeed!

Steam Roller (George Carlin)[]

  • Narrator: Sir Handel is very proud of his big sturdy wheels. They have brought tires and whole wells to the rails. But they are unusual. (as Sir Handel goes to the shed, Thomas clanks by, with Annie and Clarabel. As Sir Handel arrives to meet Skarloey, Rheneas, Peter Sam, Rusty, Duncan, and Duke, Duck goes by, hauling seven freight cars and a caboose) One day, the other engines wouldn't stop teasing him.
  • Engines: Look at his steamroller wheels.
  • Narrator: They joked.
  • Sir Handel: Be quiet.
  • Narrator: Snorted Sir Handel.
  • Sir Handel: You're jealous.
  • Peter Sam: Don't worry.
  • Narrator: Soothed Peter Sam.
  • Peter Sam: The engines all teased me about my special funnel until they learned how useful it is.
  • Sir Handel: Did you hear that?
  • Narrator: Huffed Sir Handel.
  • Sir Handel: My wheels are special like Peter Sam's funnel. I can go faster than any of you.
  • Narrator: Skarloey had a plan to make Sir Handel see sense.
  • Skarloey: With your grand wheels, Sir Handel.
  • Narrator: Said Skarloey.
  • Skarloey: You're just the engine to tackle George.
  • Sir Handel: Who's George?
  • Skarloey: That steamroller over there.
  • Narrator: Replied Skarloey.
  • Skarloey: Listen.
  • Narrator: The steamroller was making rude remarks about the engines. (George goes back and bumps into some rubble)
  • George: Railways are no good. Turn them into roads. Pull them up, turn them into roads. Railways are no good. Turn them into roads. Pull them up, turn them into roads.
  • Sir Handel: Don't worry.
  • Narrator: Said Sir Handel.
  • Sir Handel: Leave him to me. I'll send him packing. George will soon get a run for his money.
  • Narrator: Later that morning, George was at the level crossing. (Sir Handel arrives, hauling four coal cars, two slate cars, and a caboose to meet George)
  • George: Huh! You're Sir Handel, I suppose.
  • Narrator: Sir Handel was standing no nonsense.
  • Sir Handel: And you, I suppose, are George? Yes, I've heard of you.
  • George: And I've heard of you. You swank around with your stearoller wheels, pretending you're as good as me.
  • Sir Handel: Actually, I'm better. Goodbye. (Sir Handel chugs away before George follows)
  • Narrator: George chuffered on, fuming. Later that day, Sir Handel brought a special load down after the last train had gone. (Sir Handel, with a pipe in his mouth, hums a tune, as he puffs along, with three tarp cars, four boxcars, and a caboose) When he had reached the road he saw George travelling home. (Sir Handel's mouth drops to the ground as his eyes point forward in alarm) Sir Handel tried to attract his attention.
  • Sir Handel: Peep! Peep! Peep! (grumpily thinking)
  • Narrator: George took no notice. There was barely room to pass. Sir Handel was cross.
  • Sir Handel: Get out of my way, you great clumsy road hog.
  • George: Huh! I don't move for imitation steamrollers.
  • Narrator: Retorted George. They lumbered along as the insults continue. Then suddenly, there was trouble. (crashes into Sir Handel's train)
  • Sir Handel: Aagh!
  • Narrator: Cried Sir Handel.
  • Sir Handel: That was your fault.
  • George: No it wasn't it was yours.
  • Narrator: Everyone was arguing about who was to blame.
  • Policeman: Hello, hello, hello.
  • Narrator: Said a policeman ominously.
  • Policeman: And what's going on here?
  • Narrator: This made everyone stop arguing. They set to work clearing up the mess instead. Next day, the workmen put up a fence between the road and the railway. Then they went away, taking George with him. Sir Handel thought he had made George go away. (as Sir Handel chugs away with the remainings of his train and arrives back at the yard, James goes by, with two red and yellow Express coaches, while Percy passes by, hauling a breakdown train) He talked of nothing but steamrollers.
  • Skarloey: Oh, dear.
  • Narrator: Whispered Skarloey.
  • Skarloey: He's worse than ever. I'm sorry my plan was no good.
  • Rusty: Never mind.
  • Narrator: Said Rusty.
  • Rusty: We'll think of something else.
  • Narrator: But they had no need to do that. Some boys arrived instead. They pointed to the engine and cried...
  • Boy: Look! Here's Sir Handel. He tried to race a steamroller, but the steam roller nearly beat him.
  • Narrator: Sir Handel never mention steamrollers now.

Gordon Takes A Dip (Ringo Starr-US)[]

  • Narrator: Gordon was resting in a siding. Sometimes he thought...
  • Gordon: It's really tiring to be such a large and splendid engine, one does have to keep up appearance is so.
  • Henry: Peep peep peep peep! Hello, lazybones! (arrives, hauling four freight cars and a caboose)
  • Narrator: Whistled Henry.
  • Gordon: What cheek!
  • Narrator: Spluttered Gordon.
  • Gordon: That Henry is too big for his wheels. Fancy speaking to me like that. Me who has never had an accident.
  • Percy: Aren't jammed whistles and burst safety valves accidents? (arrives alongside)
  • Narrator: Asked Percy innocently.
  • Gordon: No indeed. High spirits. Might happen to any engine. But to come off the rails like Henry did. Well, I ask you. Is that right? Is it decent?
  • Narrator: (Henry arrives) Then it was Henry's turn to take the express. Gordon watch him getting ready.
  • Gordon: Be careful, Henry. You're not pulling the Flying Kipper now. Mind you keep on the rails today. (Henry backs up and couples to a red and yellow Express coach, a red and white Express coach, and a red Express coach)
  • Narrator: Henry went off in a huff, and Gordon yawned and went to sleep. But not for long. (Henry puffs away, pulling the red and yellow Express coach, the red and white Express coach, and the red Express coach)
  • Driver: Wake up, Gordon.
  • Narrator: Said his driver.
  • Driver: A special train's coming and we're to pull it.
  • Gordon: Is it coaches or freight cars?
  • Driver: Cars.
  • Narrator: Said his driver.
  • Gordon: Cars?!!
  • Narrator: Said Gordon.
  • Gordon: Puh.
  • Narrator: Gordon's fire was slow to start, (Gordon's fire is slow to start in his firebox) so Edward had to push Gordon to the turntable to get him facing the right way. (Edward buffers up to Gordon)
  • Gordon: I won't go, I won't go!
  • Narrator: Grumbled Gordon. (Gordon puffs alongside while shunted by Edward)
  • Edward: Don't be silly, don't be silly.
  • Narrator: Puffed Edward. At last, Gordon was on the turntable. (Gordon is on the turntable) The movement had shaken his fire. (Edward leaves) It was now burning nicely and making steam. (Gordon's fire in his firebox is now burning nicely and is making steam) Gordon was cross and didn't care what he did. He waited till the table was halfway round. (Gordon is turned on the turntable)
  • Gordon: I'll show them, I'll show them.
  • Narrator: He hissed. He moved slowly forward to jam the table, but he couldn't stop himself and slithered into the ditch. (Gordon lands in the ditch)
  • Gordon: Oosh!
  • Narrator: He hissed.
  • Gordon: Get me out, get me out!
  • Driver: Not a hope.
  • Narrator: Said his driver and fireman.
  • Fireman: You're stuck, you silly great engine. Don't you understand that?
  • Narrator: They telephoned Sir Topham Hatt.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: So Gordon didn't want to take the special train and ran into a ditch? What's that you say? The special's waiting? Tell Edward to take it please. And Gordon? Oh, leave him where his is. We'll get him out later.
  • Narrator: On the other side of the ditch, some little boys were chattering.
  • Boy 1: Coo, doesn't he look silly?
  • Boy 2: They'll never get him out.
  • Narrator: They began to sing.
  • Boys: Silly old Gordon fell in a ditch, fell in a ditch, fell in a ditch, silly old Gordon fell in a ditch all in the Monday morning.
  • Narrator: Gordon lay in the ditch all day.
  • Gordon: Oh, dear.
  • Narrator: He thought.
  • Gordon: I shall never get out.
  • Narrator: But that evening, they lifted Gordon and made a rope of sleepers under his wheels to keep him from the mud. Strong ropes were fastened to his back end, and James and Henry pulling hard, managed to bring him to safety.
  • (Gordon is pulled to safety by James and Henry and the Breakdown Train, and as we show a close up of his wheels, a shot is finally showing him on the turntable)
  • Narrator: Late that night, Gordon crawled home, a sadder and wiser engine. (Gordon backs into the sheds)

James In A Mess (Ringo Starr-US)[]

  • Narrator: Toby and Henrietta are enjoying their new job on the Island of Sodor, but they do look old fashioned and need new paint. (Toby arrives at Elsbridge station, hauling Henrietta) James was very rude whenever he saw them.
  • James: Ugh! What dirty objects! (arrives, hauling four red and yellow coaches)
  • Narrator: He would say. At last, Toby lost patience.
  • Toby: James?
  • Narrator: He asked.
  • Toby: Why are you red?
  • James: I am a splendid engine.
  • Narrator: Answered James.
  • James: Ready for anything. You never see my paint dirty.
  • Toby: Oh.
  • Narrator: Said Toby earnestly.
  • Toby: That's why you once needed bootlaces to be ready I suppose.
  • Narrator: James went redder than ever and snorted off. (James puffs away) It was such an insult to be remind how the time the bootlace have been use to mend a hole in his coaches. At the end of the line, James left his coaches and got out to his next train. (James shunts his coaches into a siding) It was a slow freight, stopping at every station to pick up and set down cars. (James puffs away) James hated slow freight trains.
  • James: (shunts two stone cars and a boxcar together) Dirty cars from dirty sidings! (shunts the two stone cars and boxcar into another boxcar and two coal cars) Blech! (the two stone cars, two boxcars, and two coal cars into two other coal cars and a caboose and gets coupled up to them all)
  • Narrator: (James puffs away, taking the eight freight cars and caboose) Starting an only a few, he picked up more and more cars at each station till he had a long train. (James puffs round a corner) At first, the freight cars behaved well, but James bumped them so crossly that they were determined to get back at him. (James climbs up the hill) Presently, they approached the top of Gordon's Hill. Heavy freight trains halt here to set the brakes. James had had an accident with cars before and should have remembered this.
  • Driver: Wait, James, wait! (rounds the top of the hill)
  • Narrator: Said the driver, but James wouldn't wait. He was too busy thinking what he would say to Toby when they next met. The freight cars' chance had come.
  • Cars: Hurrah! Hurrah!
  • Narrator: (James goes down the hill very slowly) They laughed, and banging their buffers they pushed him down the hill. (James thunders down the hill)
  • Cars: On, on, on!
  • Narrator: Yelled the cars.
  • James: I've got to stop, I've got to stop! (thunders past Thomas, Annie, and Clarabel, who are first pleased, but are now surprised, take out an umbrella, then pops its chute, and hold the umbrella's pop up chute in front of them)
  • Narrator: Groaned James. Through the station they thundered, disaster lay ahead.
  • (James crashes into the tar wagons)
  • Narrator: Something sticky splashed all over James. He had run into two tar wagons, and was black from smokebox to cab. (James is black from smokebox to cab, only to leave some wagons and tar wagons broken to pieces) He was more dirty than hurt, but the tar wagons and some cars were all to pieces. Toby and Percy were sent to help and came as quickly as they could. (Percy, with a freight car, and Toby, with Henrietta, and the Breakdown Train come to the rescue)
  • Toby: Look here, Percy!
  • Ringo Starr: Explained Toby.
  • Toby: Whatever is that dirty object?
  • Percy: That's James, didn't you know?
  • Toby: It's James' shape.
  • Narrator: Said Toby.
  • Toby: But James is a splendid red engine and you'll never see his paint dirty.
  • Narrator: James pretended he hadn't heard. Toby and Percy cleared away the unhurt cars and help James home. (Percy, Toby, Henrietta, and the Breakdown Train leave) Sir Topham Hatt met them. (Percy, Toby, Henrietta, and the Breakdown Train take James home)
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Well done, Percy and Toby.
  • Narrator: He turned to James.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Fancy letting your cars run away. I am surprised. You're not fit to be seen. You must be cleaned at once. Toby shall have a new coat of paint.
  • Toby: Please sir, can Henrietta have one too?
  • Narrator: Said Toby.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: Certainly, Toby.
  • Toby: Oh thank you, sir. She will pleased.
  • Narrator: All James could do as watch Toby as he ran off happily with the news. (Percy, Toby, Henrietta, and the Breakdown Train leave James)

Percy Takes The Plunge (Ringo Starr-US)[]

  • Narrator: One day, Henry wanted a rest, but Percy was talking to some engines. He was telling them about the time he had brave bad weather to help Thomas. (Henry arrives at the docks to take a rest in the shed, only to meet Percy and some other engines in the shed)
  • Percy: It was raining hard. Water swirled under my boiler. I couldn't see where I was going, but I struggled on. (a flashback of Percy's Promise is shown)
  • Bill: Oh, Percy, you are brave.
  • Percy: Well, it wasn't anything really. Water's nothing to an engine with determination.
  • Ben: Tell us more, Percy.
  • Henry: What are you engines doing here? (arrives at the shed)
  • Narrator: Hissed Henry.
  • Henry: This shed is for Sir Topham Hatt's engines. Go away. Silly things. (Bill, Ben, Casey Jr, Toots, Johnny, and Tillie leave)
  • Narrator: Henry snorted.
  • Percy: They're not silly.
  • Narrator: Percy had been enjoying himself.
  • Henry: They are silly and so are you. Water's nothing to an engine with determination. Huh.
  • Percy: Anyway.
  • Narrator: Said cheeky Percy.
  • Percy: I'm not afraid of water, I like it.
  • Narrator: He ran off to the harbour singing.
  • Percy: Once an engine attached to a train, was afraid of a few drops of rain.
  • Henry: No one ever lets me forget the time i wouldn't come out of the tunnel in case the rain spoiled my paint. (a flashback of Come Out, Henry! is shown)
  • Narrator: Huffed Henry. (Percy arrives to meet up with Thomas) Thomas was looking at the board on the key.
  • Thomas: Danger. We mustn't go passed it.
  • George Carlin: He said.
  • Thomas: That's orders.
  • Percy: Why?
  • Thomas: Danger means falling down something.
  • George Carlin: Said Thomas. (a flashback of Down the Mine is shown)
  • Thomas: I went pass danger once, and fell down a mine.
  • Percy: I can't see a mine.
  • Narrator: Said Percy. He didn't know that the foundations of the key had sunk. The rails now sloped down into the sea.
  • Percy: Stupid board.
  • Narrator: Said Percy. He made a plan. (Percy, coupled to six freight cars, and a caboose, puffs toward the Docks) One day, he whispered to the cars.
  • Percy: Will you give me a bump when we get to the key?
  • Narrator: The cars had never asked to bump an engine before. They giggled and chattered about it.
  • Percy: Driver doesn't know my plan.
  • Narrator: Chuckled Percy.
  • Cars: On, on, on!
  • Narrator: Laughed the cars. Percy thought they were helping.
  • Percy: I'll pretend to stop at the station, but the cars will push me pass the board. Then I'll make them stop. I can do that wherever I like.
  • Narratior: Every wise engine knows that you cannot trust freight cars.
  • Cars: Go on, go on! (bump Percy while his engine crew fall off the cab0
  • Narrator: They yelled, and bumped Percy's driver and fireman off the footplate.
  • Percy: Ow!
  • Narrator: Said Percy, sliding pass the board. Percy was frantic.
  • Percy: That's enough! (lands in the sea)
  • Narrator: Percy was sunked.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: You are a very disobeident engine.
  • Narrator: Percy knew that voice.
  • Percy: Please, sir, get me out, sir, I'm truly sorry, sir.
  • Sir Topham Hatt: No, Percy, we cannot do that till high tide. I hope it will teach you to take care of yourself.
  • Percy: Yes, sir.
  • Narrator: It was dark when they brought floating cranes to rescue Percy. (Diesel takes the freight cars away while Thomas lifts Percy back onto the tracks with the Breakdown Train) He was too cold and stiff to move by himself. Next day, he was sent to the works on Henry's freight train.
  • Henry: Well, well, well!
  • Narrator: Chuckled Henry.
  • Henry: Did you like the water?
  • Percy: No.
  • Henry: I am surprised. You need more determination, Percy. Water's nothing to an engine with determination you know. Perhaps you will like it better next time.
  • Narrator: Percy is quite determined that they'll won't be a next time. (Henry departs with his freight train with Percy on top, hauling eight freight cars, and a caboose)
