Swift Fox.jpg

The swift fox (Vulpes velox) is the smallest of the North American foxes. The swift fox feeds mainly on small mammals, but has been known to take a variety of prey including insects, birds, reptiles and amphibians. A grassland species, the swift fox is usually found on short-grass and mixed-grass prairies. Young are born in the spring, and the female swift fox can give birth to up to eight per litter.
