The African Jungle Book 2 is a 2000 animated adventure film produced by the Australian office at New Line Home Entertainment and released by New Line Cinema. The theatrical version of the film was released in France on January 14, 2000 and released in the United States on January 20, 2000. The film is a sequel to New Line's 1994 film The African Jungle Book, and stars Alexander Gould as the voice of Morty and Jason Alexander as the voice of Barry.

Taking place some short time after the first film, Morty is in the Man Village, living with his adoptive parents and new little brother, Roger. He has become sweethearts with Sandy, the girl who lured Mowgli into the Man Village. One day Morty tries to take the Village Children into the Jungle but Sandy realizes this and yells stop. Morty and Roger's father arrives and orders the kids back into the village and scowls at Morty telling him the jungle is a dangerous place and shows Morty a scar on his left arm. He also punishes Morty by sending him to his room without dinner. After Morty gets in trouble, he blames Sandy and won't talk to her, then Morty starts to miss the jungle.
Meanwhile, Morty's best friend, Barry, a free-spirited lion, was starting to miss Morty, so he decided to pick him up. But Morty's old panther guardian, Benjamin, however, forbids him. Passing through Benjamin and a herd of elephants, Barry sneaks into the Man Village - unnoticed by the villagers - to visit Morty and get him back. Also, Morty's old arch enemy, Smiter, a vicious leopard, returns for his revenge. Meanwhile, Sandy tries to apologize to Morty, but she sees Barry with Morty and shrieks for help. Smiter sneaks into the village, and everyone thinks he's the wild animal. After Baloo and Mowgli escape into the jungle, Sandy, believing her boyfriend was kidnapped, follows them. Then, Kalvin, a python, spots Morty and Barry talking and attempts to eat Morty. But, fortunately, he fails.
Later, Kalvin spots Sandy alone and tries to eat her. He manages to subdue her with his hypnotic stare, which causes her hands to hang loosely at her sides, and to not be able to look away, until Ranjan comes forward and pulls Shanti away in time, releasing her from Kalvin's trance. Ranjan starts beating Kalvin with a stick, and Kalvin ends up accidentally swallowing a large rock. The weight of the rock makes his coils fall on top of him. While Ranjan keeps hitting Kalvin, Shanti grabs him to get away from the snake. Ranjan soon scares Kalvin from behind and causes Kalvin to fall off a nearby cliff and into a coconut tree, and Sandy and Ranjan soon leave. Morty enjoys the jungle as he used to and tells Barry about his life in the Man Village and Sandy.
Soon, Benjamin figures out that Morty had escaped the Man Village with Barry when the villagers are in the jungle, calling for Morty, and he tries to find him. Sandy and Roger are still looking for Morty, then get lost in the jungle. They soon find Morty sadly sitting in a tree, and when he sees Sandy, he falls into some vines and gets tangled. Barry finds them and scares Sandy but gets caught in the vines and punched in the nose by Sandys fist. Sandy learns that Morty told Barry to scare her, and she gets angry at him and runs away with Roger. Morty gets angry at Barry for scaring Sandy and goes after them. He finds them and wants to explain, but Sandy points to Smiter, who is behind him. The children run, and Morty tells Sandy and Roger to stay put in a bush. Sandy goes to help Morty and tells Roger to stay; Roger (after snagging his loincloth on a branch and getting sling-shotted backward while trying to follow Sandy) encounters Barry. He tries to run away, but Barry picks up Roger by the loincloth, tells him to calm down, and asks him where Morty is. Roger shouts, "Smiter!" and Barry takes Roger on his shoulders while running after Morty. Morty finds an ancient temple and hides. Barry and Roger run into Benjamin, whom Barry leaves Roger with when they all arrive at the temple, which Sandy has arrived at as well. She and Barry encounter each other and soon learn that they are on the same side and split up. Barry begins banging on a gong, soon being joined by Sandy and Morty each in their hiding places and confuse Smiter. Sandy's gong falls down, and Smiter threatens her. Morty comes out of his hiding place, and Smiter runs to kill him. Morty begins to run, and Barry pushes Smiter away. Morty and Smiter run up a staircase, soon being followed by Smiter after Barry tries to stop him again and soon run into a crater and jump across and land on a leopard head statue. Smiter jumps onto the leopard head, which starts to fall. Smiter falls and lands on a rock, and the leopard head lands down, trapping him inside. Morty and Smiter fall too but are saved by Barry.
Meanwhile, Larry, a new member of the vultures, comes down and teases Smiter. After returning to safety, Morty, Sandy, and Roger say goodbye to Barry and Benjamin and reunite with their families where Morty's father apologizes to him for not understanding that the jungle is part of who he is, and they return to the village. Not long after returning to the village, Morty, Sandy, and Roger secretly return to the jungle to spend some time with their new jungle family, unaware that Morty and Roger's parents know where they're going.
