Penguin and Me (The Penguin's New Groove in the UK, Australia and North America, ペンギンの新しい溝 in Japan, A Nova Onda do Pinguim / O Pinguim e o Mimetismo in Brazil, Las Locuras del Pingüino in Venezuela, Ein Königreich für einen Pinguin in Germany and Pingviini ja jäljitelmä in Finland) is a 2006 Japanese-American animated comedy film was directed by Ryuhei Kitamura, based on the 2012 children's book of the same name by Angela Muss and features the animation style of Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost.
The film was premiered in Japan on January 16, 2006 at the Tokyo International Film Festival and in Venezuela and in Finland on TV on February 14, 2006. It was released in VHS and DVD in the United States and in Brazil on March 24, 2006, including the 3 short films, The Three Champions, Tribe Boy and Princess Meet the Dog and Village Frolics, and it was distributed by Paramount Home Entertainment. It was also known as The Penguin and Me in North America and produced between Mook Animation, Tatsunoko Production, and TMS Entertainment.
Plot[]
The Gaulish boy named Robin and his girlfriend, Barbara, join their friends, a Japanese spitz dog named Kenai and his father, Koda to defeat Sacha is Jacob's mother, the kindhearted healer who plans to punish the world, and Lord Jay, his girlfriend, Abby Harper and her champion, Bane, are in charge of summoning the two-headed turkey, thug ladybug robots, and sharks in the world. They all together with the young, hilarious, and fleet-of-foot penguin named Nori and the male ringed seal named Sydney set off on a road trip full of humor, awesome adventures, big drama and non-stop laughs!

A singing, jitterbugging Barbara goes through her paces with Lord Jay, Bane and Abby Harper, but when supervillains gets into the house, she joins with Kenai and Koda to fight and eventually tie him up.
Tribe Boy and Princess Meet the Dog[]
The tribe boy who has the new grouch for a daddy, runs off, finds the princess to meet a dog, and joins the teenage teams. Meanwhile, the old man has a nightmare, where he sees giant turkey as the new sour puss because he doesn't take care of his teeth and gums. James P. Sullivan is sent to Harryhausen's to remind him what it is like to been chopped by a multi-tentacled monster sushi chef. The old man sees an electric sign for Dentor Systema toothpaste, and that sets him on a more positive course.

Meet all the friendly villagers as they frolic in the Finnish village.

On December 16, 2005, Paramount Pictures announced the animation style of Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost has featured in the production of The Penguin's New Groove to celebrate the World Cup in New York and Tokyo in 2006 respectively. The film shows the most famous of the world's most popular sporting and carnival games.
Animation[]
The animation took place in three studios in Tokyo; initial animation production and effects were produced in Mook Animation in Inagi, Tatsunoko Production in Musashino, and TMS Entertainment in Nakano.
Music[]
In December 2005, Gregor Narholz, who previously worked on The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, was hired to compose the score.

Prequel[]
A prequel, titled The Seals' New Groove, was released on June 21, 2013. Quinton Flynn reprised his role of Sydney, while Ryuhei Kitamura directed the film. The prequel's plot focuses on Sydney and three mermaids will be found inside the circus ring, when the three sea lions live in the air and find their own special species for the first time in Tokyo.
Spin-off[]
A spin-off, titled Koda Ball Z and the Witch's Ghost, was released in North America on December 23, 2004 and it is a parody of Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost. Scott Innes and Whoopi Goldberg reprised their roles of both characters (Kenai and Koda) and Sacha, while Glenn Weiss directed the film. The spin-off's plot focuses on Kenai, his adoptive father, Koda, their friends, Denahi the Trouble-Prone Inuit, Barney the Son of the Beach, and Princess Tarja once again pile into Formula Two and stumble onto hazardous pay. This time they happen upon some Tokyo ghoulies in a small New England town.
Anime series[]
In December 2017, it was announced that Loren Lester, Tara Strong, Scott Innes, Tom Kenny, and Quinton Flynn would return as Robin, Barbara, Kenai, Koda, Nori, and Sydney, respectively for the anime series. Additional cast members will include Ethan Slater as Haru, Tom Arnold as Teizō, Jimmy O. Yang as Fuji, Awkwafina as Princess Rikku, Gavin Lee as Kenji, David Hasselhoff reprised his role of Blue Eagle, Xzibit reprised his role of Discord, and Debra Wilson as Teizō's son Gakuto. The anime series will be released on YouTube in early 2018.
