  • Negaduck: It's a Pokeball, without a doubt!
  • Bugmaster: Obviously, it is an Electrode!
  • Brian: And the answer is....Jigglypuff, seen from above.
  • Everyone: LET'S EAT!
  • Gosalyn: You know, you haven't gotten a badge in a long time, Pooh. You think you'll both ever get another one?
  • (Pooh starts choking on his honey sandwich)
  • Gosalyn: Well, I guess Pooh could make another gym leader feel sorry for him and get another badge that way.
  • Danny: Take it easy, Pooh. Drink this.
  • (Pooh drinks what Danny gave him and saves himself)
  • Pooh: Skill! I win matches with skill!
  • Gosalyn: How much skill does it take to win a match against Team Rocket?
  • Team Rocket: Huh
  • Pooh: Okay, I'll show you some skill! I challenge you to a match, right now!
  • Pikachu: Pika Pika!
  • Pooh: No, I will not change my mind!
  • (Piglett's shutter is soon heard)
  • Piglett: Hold it!
  • Pooh: Why should I hold it?
  • Piglett: Not you. Pikachu! That's a perfect expression!
  • Pikachu: Pika?
  • Pooh: Hey, cut it out!
  • Piglett: Well, Pooh, might I make a suggestion? Why don't you just get yourself admitted.
  • Piglett: T-t-take the Pokemon League Admissions E-e-exam.
  • Pooh: The Pokemon League...
  • Pikachu: Pika?
  • Togepi: Togepi.
  • Pooh: Lucky seven! See, Gosalyn? I have skills and luck!
  • Gosalyn: A little modesty wouldn't hurt.
  • ???: Oh, no! I wanted number seven...
  • (Pooh notices the stranger watching him and thinks she looks familiar, but fails to put his finger on why as the stranger sheepishly fills out the application form. Gosalyn notices her too but glances at her in suspicion)
  • ???: Age, seventeen. Profession, diva...
  • Pooh: That girl looks familiar.
  • Gosalyn: (suspicious, thinking) Yeah. I have a feeling I've seen her before. (Turns her attention to the various people) Keen gear! Look at all the different kinds of people showing up for the exam. I'll bet that Gyro Gearloose, Scrooge Mcduck and Fenton Crackshell are there too! My friend Launchpad McQuack told me all about them.
  • Pooh: Yes. Nobody I'm not better than.
  • (Soon, Pinkie Pie walks by and catches Danny Cat's eye)
  • Danny: Oh, Pinkie Pie! Look who the cat dragged in!
  • Pooh: Yeah, but which one?
  • Brian: Just a minute! You'll have to leave your Pokeballs here with me.
  • Pooh: Okay. Why?
  • Brian: You're not permitted to use your own Pokemon during the exam. I already had that problem once when Stewie tried that during one exam
  • Pooh: What? Oh, bother.
  • Pooh: (gets out his Pokeballs and hands them over) Here you go.
  • Brian: Thank you.
  • Gosalyn: Can I take care of his Pikachu during the exam?
  • Brian: Of course, little girl! Good luck, Mr. Bear!
  • Gosalyn: I'd wish you luck too, but you're so skill!
  • Pooh: You got that right
  • Pikachu: Pika.
  • (Soon, the rest of the gang approach and talk to Nurse Joy before the exam starts)
  • Ash: So, you want to become a Pokémon master too, huh, Nurse Joy?
  • Nurse Joy: Well, it always has been a dream of mine.
  • Brock: So, uh, where are you from, Nurse Joy?
  • Nurse: I'm Nurse Joy from Fuchsia City, sister to the Vermilion City Joy.

+

    • Brock: You're the most beautiful one yet.

+

    • Misty: (sweatdrops) That's what you always say, Brock.

+

    • Togepi: Togepi! ("Every time!")

+

    • Nurse Joy: I came here for the exam because my work keeps me too busy to travel very much.
    • Misty: This exam is really a great idea.

+

    • Ben: (in thought) Did I hear her right?

+

    • Nurse Joy: Yes. It's perfect for people who's age or health keeps them from traveling around. And it's also nice for people like me who can't ever seem to get away from work.

+

    • Brock: I can feel it! I'm sure you're gonna pass the test!

+

    • Nurse Joy: I hope you're right.

    • Todd: That'd make a nice human interests shot.
    • Ash: Hey! Save your film for Pokemon!

+

    • Azusa: Ritsu-sempai's right. Besides, Dusky has disappeared and I left my Pokemon too, so its practically pointless since he can't return to his ball anyway until he returns.

+

    • Chupy: Pi ka. ("Alright...")

+

    • Ui: Cheer up, Chupy. I'm certain Ritsu will do fine on the exam.

+

+

    • Chupy: Pika. ("I hope so.")

+

    • Ui: Misty, Sawako, Jun and I will keep you company during the whole thing.

+

    • (Soon, the girls who did sign up approach, but the entire group notices a familiar looking stranger walk in the building, spot them, get nervous and walk away nervously)

+

    • Ash: That's weird. That guy looked really familiar, too!

    • (Meanwhile, the stranger hands his exam form in)

+

    • ???: Here's the exam form.

+

    • Head instructor: Fine. Let's see. Your name is James.

+

    • (The stranger, revealed to be James by his reaction, panics a bit)
    • Negaduck: (angrily) Will you just shut up?!
    • (Negaduck' reaction gets the attention of the girl standing next to him)

+

    • ???: Is that?
    • Negaduck: Hey! Get lost, old bat!

+

    • (The stranger gets offended by the comment)

+

    • ???: Old?!?

+

    • (The mad woman drags Negaduck outside)
    • Negaduck: Hey! Get off of me! Get off! Stupid broad! You don't know who you're messing with, lady!
    • (The stranger removes her glasses)
    • ???: So, I'm an old bat, am I?
    • Negaduck: You're Negaduck! That outfit is atrocious and it makes you look ugly!
    • Bianca Beakley: (puts her glasses back on) And what are you doing here?

    • James: What am I doing here? Well, truth to tell, I, not unlike many other people, dream of becoming a Pokemon master. Make fun if you must! (laughs)

+

    • Jessie: No, you're doing just fine on your own.

+

    • James: I want to live my dream instead of my.. My reality.

+

    • Jessie: I can see why.

    • James: What's your reason for being here?

+

    • Jessie: I simply wanted to add another talent to my very impressive and extensive resume. As you know, I'm already an accomplished hostess, florist, costume designer, wine expert, beautician, style consultant. In fact, one of the only things I'm not..

+

    • (But before Jessie can finish her sentence, Meowth butts in)

+

    • Meowth: Is a Pokemon master!

+

    • Jessie and James: Meowth?!?

+

    • Jessie: What are you doing here?!?

Meowth: Looking for you. The one who suddenly remembered an important engagement.

Meowth: Come clean, what are you doing here?

+

    • Jessie: Mind your own business!

+

    • James: (gets out a ball of string) Take this and leave us alone!

+

    • (Meowth chases after the ball of string while Jessie and James make a break for it)

+

    • Jessie: Hurry up!

+

    • James: The exam's about to start!

+

    • (Soon, all the heroes who signed up are in their seats and ready to start the first part of the exam)

+

    • Head instructor: The first test will measure your overall knowledge of Pokemon! Ready? Begin!

+

    • Ash: I can't wait! This'll be easy!

+

    • (On each monitor, a picture of Pokemon comes up and the testers listen and figure out the answer to the question they're give)

+

    • Yui: Hmmm, we encountered one before and the Pokedex did say that, so... (presses the true button)

+

    • (A picture of a Vulpix comes up next on the monitors)

+

    • Computer: Ninetales evolves from Vulpix only by use of a Fire Stone. True or Falll

    • James: Magikarp! Just hearing that name makes my.. My blood boil!

+

    • Jessie: True.

+

    • (James looks over and sees Jessie answering her questions without even thinking)

+

    • Jessie: That's true, too. (pushes the true button)

+

    • (A picture of a Caterpie is next to appear on the monitors)

+

    • Computer: Caterpie is the world's smallest Pokemon. True or false?

+

    • Jessie: Yeah, that's true. (pushes the true button)

+

    • James: Look at her! She's so good!

+

    • (A picture of a Koffing is next to appear)

+

    • Compute: Koffing was first discovered in a public bathhouse. True or false?

+

    • Jessie: True. (pushes the true button multiple times for every question) True. True. All I have to do is guess and I'll get half of them right.

+

    • (Soon, the second test is set to begin)

+

    • Head instructor: Now, we will measure your ability to recognize Pokemon! Please name the Pokemon by identifying its silhouette or any part of its body as its displayed here!

+

    • Ash: Alright! This is gonna be a piece of cake!

+

    • Head instructor: Here's the first question. (a large black circle appears on the front screen) Identify this Pokemon.

+

    • Ash: This is gonna be a breeze for me! It's a Voltorb!

+

    • James: A
  • ()

  • Y

+

+

    • (Team Rocket and our heroes nearly fall out of their seats in disbelief)

+

    • Mio: (shocked) How did Yui figure that out!?

+

    • Mugi: Oh my.

+

    • Ritsu: How did you get that right?

+

    • Yui: See, if you view Jigglyuff on top, it looks exactly like the shape of a Voltorb, and that one is known to trick us into thinking its a Voltorb.

+

    • Head instructor: Next question. What Pokemon displays this pattern?

+

    • Ash: I've never seen that.

+

    • James: It must be an Omanyte shell!

+

    • Jessie: It's an Arbok when its all coiled
    • Ash: Hey! It's a Poliwhirl!

+

    • M

Head instructor: The correct answer: Poliwag.

(Ash, Jessie, and James fall out of their seats in disb

Head instructor: As any master would know, when Poliwag evolves into Poliwhirl, the swirl on its stomach reverses direction.

(The rest of our heroes watch through the glass window)

Gosalyn: Gee, this is hard.

Danny: And it's getting harder by the minute!

Pikachu: Pika.

    • Brian: Question fifteen: What Pokemon does this tail belong to?
    • Pooh: It's either Charmander, Charmeleon, or Charizard. Think, think, think...Oh, yes. It's has to be Charmander!
    • Brian: The answer is.. Ponyta.
    • Pooh: Oh bother, it can't be.

+

    • (Finally, Jessie loses her temper)

+

    • Jessie: Can't you ask me a question that I know that answer to?!?

+

    • Head instructor: Please take your seat!

+

    • Jessie: This is a joke! These stupid questions won't make you a Pokemon master!

+

    • Head instructor: For your information, young lady, a Pokemon master must understand all aspects of their Pokemon's life in order to achieve oneness with their Pokemon!

+

    • Jessie: You're not making any sense at all! I'm through with this!

+

    • Head instructor: Get out!

+

    • Jessie: (takes off and throws down her test number) I can't wait to go! (leaves the room)

+

    • James: But, Jessie, I..

+

    • Nurse Joy: Dear, what a shame.

+

    • Ash: That girl's attitude seems familiar, too.

+

    • (Meanwhile, outside, Meowth is sleeping next to his ball of string when Jessie comes up to him)

+

    • Jessie: Hey! (kicks Meowth) Let's go!

+

    • Meowth: Where am I going?

+

    • Jessie: You're going with me, to help me get my revenge!

+

    • (Meanwhile, inside the testing building, the scores have been counted and are displayed for all the test takers to see)
    • Gosalyn: Here comes the scoreboard!

Gosalyn: The ones on the right got the lowest scores, and the ones on the left got the highest. I wouldn't be surprised at all to find me my friend Honker's picture on the highest scores.

Danny Cat: Look! Pinkie Pie's near the top!

Piglett: Hey, where's your picture, Pooh?

Pooh: It must be where they put the highest score.

Misty: Ash. Down here.

    • (Turns out that Pooh and Negaduck got the lowest scores, underneath Bianca who has been expelled)
    • Pooh: Oh, bother. But, that's impossible!

+

    • (Todd soon starts taking pictures of Ash's score)

+

    • Ash: Quit it!

+

    • Todd: (sheepishly) Just a little souvenir, Ash.

+

    • Misty: Well, Ash, it looks like you didn't have enough luck or skill to pass the test.

+

    • Ash: Pokemon isn't about tests, it's about battle! (laughs)

+

    • Ben: Don't forget, my student. Pokemon aren't just tools for battle, they're our partners. I learned that from a former Indigo League champion, I think he said his name was Red.

+

    • (Meanwhile, James stands in a corner by himself)

+

    • James: Jessie's been expelled. Now, I'll have to do my best for her!

+

    • All Heroes: Who's that Pokemon? It's Vulpix!

+

    • (Back to the show)

+

    • (Later, outside, a bell rings that signals that the next test is about to begin, and its a battling test. And the first battle is Nurse Joy's Squirtle against one of the instructors' Pokemon, a Charmander)

+

    • Nurse Joy: Alright, Squirtle, Water Gun attack!

+

    • (The attack lands right on target)

+

    • Nurse Joy: Squirtle, give it the Skull Bash, now!

+

    • (Meanwhile, our heroes are watching in the bleachers, and get embarrassed when Brock starts rooting for Nurse Joy)

+

    • Brock: Nurse Joy, you're doing great! Yeah! (to Todd) Alright, shoot away! I want eight by ten glossies, and wallet sizes, too.

+

    • Todd: Yeah, sure.

+

    • (Meanwhile, Ash, the girls and James are selecting which set of Pokeballs to use during the test)

+

    • Head instructor: Now, select whichever one you like.

+

    • Ash: I don't know which one to pick. You can't tell us what kind of Pokemon are inside them, huh?

+

    • Head instructor: That's what makes it a test. All of these Pokemon are trained for battles so they'll obey your commands. This test determines whether a trainer can adapt, regardless of what Pokemon comes out.

+

    • James: With whom do we have to battle?

+

    • Head instructor: With me.

+

    • Ash: Right! Then I'll take these!

+

    • James: I'll take these!

+

    • Mio: And these are mine. You guys pick your Pokemon and check out my battle. It's next and I'm ready to ace this test!

+

    • (Soon, the bell rings and Mio takes to the field as the Head instructor brings out his first Pokemon, a Kadabra)

+

    • Head instructor: Are you ready, Miss Akiyama?

+

    • Mio: Ready as I'll ever be! As are the Pokemon I selected! Go!

+

    • (A Gastly materializes, which caused Mio to freak out)

+

    • Ben: Just her luck, Mio gets a ghost type as her first pick from the three Pokeballs she chose.

+

    • Mio: (in thought) Okay, stay calm, Mio. (calms herself) Sorry that I'm afraid of Ghost types.

+

    • Gastly: (smiles) Gast ly, Gastly Gas Gastly ("Don't be, just tell me what attack to use.")

+

    • Mio: (thinks to herself) What attacks can Gastly use?

+

    • Head instructor: Kadabra, Psybeam.

+

    • (The attack zooms toward Gastly)

+

    • Mio: Quick, Gastly, Double Team.

+

    • (To her surprise, Gastly obliged and dodges by glowing and forming copies using Double Team, which caused Psybeam to hit one of the fakes, the copies circled around, leaving Kadabra with nowhere to run and no idea where Gastly's attack will come from)

+

    • Ben: Smart move. Using Double Team can confuse your opponent quickly.

+

    • Spiral: Om man. ("Real smart.")

+

    • Mio: Now, follow it with Shadow Ball.

+

    • (Gastly strikes Kadabra from behind with Shadow Ball, taking it out)

+

    • Sawako: Kadabra is unable to battle, Gastly wins.

+

    • Head instructor: Amazing! You beaten my first Pokemon of the test!

+

    • Mio: Alright! Way to go, Gastly. Maybe using a Ghost type isn't so scary after all.

+

    • Gastly: Gast ly. ("Thank you")

+

    • (Gastly starts snuggling with Mio)

+

    • Mio: (giggling) Okay, stop that, you're tickling me.

+

    • Liam: Could it be that Mio is no longer afraid of Ghost types and conquered her fear?

+

    • Ben: It would seem so. But she can't let her guard down yet. She still has two more Pokemon to contend with. Let's see who the next Pokemon she battles will be.

+

    • (The Head instructor brings out his next Pokemon)

+

    • Weepinbell: Bell!

+

    • Mio: A grass type. Let's see if I got something to counter it. Go!

+

    • (Mio throws the Pokeball and a Ponyta materializes as it made a whinny noise)

+

    • Mio: A Ponyta! Perfect! I'll win this one, easily!

+

    • Ben: A Fire type. That's a good match-up since grass types are super weak against fire types. I bet Cinder would be proud.

+

    • (The bell rings, and the next battle is underway)

+

    • Head instructor: Go, Razor Leaf.

+

    • (Weepinbell sharpens its leaves till they're like blades and charges toward Ponyta)

+

    • Mio: (in thought) I know Ponyta's moves quite well, since Ben has Cinder. (aloud) Use Agility to dodge it.

+

    • (Ponyta dodges effortlessly)

+

    • Mio: Now use Flame Charge.

+

    • (Ponyta began stomping several times and sped up as dust bellowed around it, scoring a direct hit and raising Ponyta's speed)

+

    • Head instructor: Use Stun Spore.

+

    • Mio: Jump and dodge it.

+

    • (Ponyta leaps over the oncoming attack)

+

    • Mio: Now use Flamethrower in mid-air.

+

    • (Weepinbell is engulfed in flames after a hit from Flamethrower, it coughed up soot, then fainted)

+

    • Sawako: Weepinbell is unable to battle, Ponyta wins.

+

    • (Mo jumps with joy)

+

    • Liam: That's 2 down, Mio's really good.

+

    • Ben: I'll say. She might be able to ace this.

+

    • Ui: So Mio has used Pokemon with a lot of Speed, Gastly and Ponyta are both very fast Pokemon, but I wonder what Pokemon is Mio's third pick.

+

    • Ben: We're about to find out.

+

    • (The head instructor's final Pokeball materializes a Hitmonlee)

+

    • Mio: This is my final battle and I'll pass the test. Go!

+

    • (A Hitmonchan materializes)

+

    • Mio: Whoah, a Hitmonchan, another speedy Pokemon, known as "The Punching Demon".

+

    • Ben: Not bad. She's got a pretty good choice of Pokemon for her third battle, if I do say so myself. Eh, Rocky?

+

    • Rocky: chan! ("Yeah!")

+

    • Mio: Now use Sky Uppercut with your other fist!

+

    • (The attack lands and Hitmonlee goes slightly upwards)

+

    • Head Instructor: Good strategy. You know what you're doing, Mio.

+

    • Mio: Thanks.

+

    • Head Instructor: Use High Jump Kick.

+

    • (Hitmonlee leaps into the air)

+

    • Mio: Wait for it.

+

    • (Hitmonlee starts coming down)

+

    • Ritsu: Mio, what are you trying to do?

+

    • (Hitmonlee gets closer to the target)

+

    • Mio: Dodge it!

+

    • (Hitmonchan dodges the High Jump Kick, causing Hitmonlee to hurt itself from missing its High Jump Kick)

+

    • Ritsu: So that's why she did that!

+

    • Yui: What do you mean Rit-chan?

+

    • Ritsu: High Jump Kick is a risky fighting move. If it misses, the user gets hurt instead of the target!

+

    • Ben: Absolutely, and it looks like the gamble didn't pay off for the head instructor.

+

    • (Hitmonlee couldnt move due to missing its High Jump Kick)

+

    • Mio: Now's your chance, Hitmonchan. Close Combat.

+

    • (Hitmonchan hits Hitmonlee with a flurry of punches, it did one more punch and Hitmonlee slammed and skidded to the Head Instructor's side, it tried to get back, but it collapsed once again, swirly eyed and unable to continue.)

+

    • Sawako: Hitmonlee is unable to battle! Hitmonchan wins! The test is over! Mio passes with flying colors!

+

    • Mio: YES! I did it!

+

    • Ben: Most impressive. She called the right shots at just the right time! If all goes according to plan, I'll have three trainers ready for the Pokemon League instead of two!

+

    • Ritsu: Guess if Mio can pull it off, all of us will be going to the Pokemon League instead of Cinnabar Island.

+

    • Ben: Perhaps, but I honestly want to wait and see. Speaking of seeing, the next match is about to start. It's that guy with the familiar looking hair and the glasses going next.

+

    • (Soon, James takes to the field for his battling test)

+

    • Jessie: Come on, James! Beat that ignoramus!

+

    • Meowth: Right. Really beat the guy.

+

    • James: This one's for you, Jessie! (throws the Pokeball)

+

    • Ben: (in thought) Did he just say Jessie?

+

    • (A Pikachu materializes, to Team Rocket's and our heroes' shock)

+

    • James: (chuckles) With this, I can't lose! Thunder Shock, Thunderbolt. I've been destroyed by Pikachu's attacks so many times I know them all by heart! (laughs wickedly, to Jessie and Meowth's embarrassment)

+

    • Jessie: That's kinda pathetic when you think about it.

+

    • Meowth: Yeah.

+

    • Ben: (in thought) I should have figured. That voice is all too familiar for this to be a coincidence. Now all that's left is to wait until he loses his cool and shows his true colors.

+

    • Head instructor: Now, we begin! Go! (throws the Pokeball)

+

    • (A Graveler materializes)

+

    • Jamse: It's a Graveler! Pikachu, Thunderbolt! Ooh, that feels great to say!

+

    • (The attack lands but nothing happens, due to the type disadvantage. Graveler charges forward and knocks Pikachu back and flying into James' face)

+

    • James: I don't get it! How come the Thunderbolt attack didn't work?

+

    • Head instructor: You should've known that electricity doesn't work on rock Pokemon. Minus one point.

+

    • Ben: (in thought) Just the chance I was waiting for. Go ahead, get yourself disqualified, James.

+

    • James: Well, then. How about this! (throws his last two Pokeballs)

+

    • (A Charizard and an Ivysaur materialize, to the surprise of the instructor)

+

    • James: With these, I can win! Now, what do you say? (laughs triumphantly)

+

    • Head instructor: Goodbye! It's against the rules to use two Pokemon at once.

+

    • James: I never play by the..

+

    • (James stops before he can finish his sentence when he realizes the instructor's upset attitude)

+

    • Head instructor: You're expelled. Now get out.

+

    • Jessie: He failed again.

+

    • Meowth: Don't think of it as failing. Think of it as not succeeding.

+

    • Ben: (in thought) Well, with both him and who I suspect to be Jessie expelled, that means Team Rocket will be back. Better keep my eyes open. (aloud) Alright, let's see how Ash's battle test does. Hope he actually pulls it off.

+

    • Liam: And how.

+

    • Misty: Now we'll see if Ash can win one.

+

    • Brock: Go get em, Ash!

+

    • Pikachu: Pika Pi! ("Ash!")

+

    • Ash: Thanks, just leave it to me! Hey, Snap! Make sure you get lots of great shots!

+

    • Todd: Don't worry! Just make sure you win!

+

    • (Meanwhile, James sulks over his expulsion)

+

    • James: I'm such a loser!

+

    • (Soon, Jessie and Meowth show up)

+

    • Jessie: James? I have a plan that will make us all winners!

+

    • Meowth: Yeah!

+

    • (Meanwhile, Ash's battle is underway)

+

    • Head instructor: Are you ready, Ash?

+

    • Ash: Ready!

+

    • Head instructor: Pokeball, go!

+

    • (From the Pokeball, a Flareon materializes)

+

    • Ash: Okay, now, I need something that can beat a Flareon! First, Pokeball, go!

+

    • (To the surprise of our heroes, a Weezing materializes)

+

    • Ash: I got a Weezing?

+

    • Team Rocket: That's bad.

+

    • Todd: I gotta get this! His face looks just like Weezing!

+

    • (Ash hears Todd take the picture)

+

    • Ash: Not now!

+

    • Head instructor: It's time to start the battle. Flareon, go! Flamethrower, now!

+

    • (Flareon fires, but Weezing dodges, just as Ash gets an idea)

+

    • Ash: Oh, I know! Weezing, give em your Smog attack, now!

+

    • (Weezing releases the attack as Flareon fires another shot, but the flame hitting the smog causes an explosion and sends Flareon flying back, but it lands on its feet as our heroes watch on)

+

    • Ben: Smart move, but risky too.

+

    • Yui: What do you mean?

+

    • Ben: I mean that a Weezing's gases can blind you, but they're also flammable. So if you launch a fire attack at Weezing while it's gases are our, it will result in an explosion that could knock your Pokemon back or knock it out!

+

    • Head instructor: Now, Flareon, the Leer!

+

    • (Flareon's eyes glow due to the Leer attack)

+

    • Ash: Come on, Weezing, fight back with Smokescreen!

+

    • (Weezing spreads the smoke and Flareon temporarily loses sight of Weezing)

+

    • Head instructor: Hey, not too shabby.

+

    • Ben: (in thought) That's my student.

+

    • Ash: Go, Weezing! Tackle attack!

+

    • (Through the smoke, Weezing strikes and knocks Flareon down and out)

+

    • Sawako: Flareon is unable to battle! Weezing wins!

+

    • Ash: Alright! My first victory!

+

    • Misty: I guess Ash is a pretty good battler after all!

+

    • Ben: You're surprised? I had no doubts about it.

+

    • Brock: Even Team Rocket could win if they fought like that!

+

    • (Speaking of, Jessie and James start writing down notes on how to battle like Ash, to Meowth's embarrassment)

+

    • James: Hurry! Take notes! Take notes!

+

    • Head instructor: (tosses his second Pokeball) Now, round two!

+

    • (From the Pokeball, a Jolteon materializes)

+

    • Ash: Okay, a Jolteon. Next, Pokeball, go!

+

    • (To the surprise of our heroes, an Arbok materializes)

+

    • Ben: First he got the Pokemon James has, and now..

+

    • Misty: Ash got the Pokemon Jessie has!

+

    • Pikachu: Chu. ("Odd.")

+

    • Ben: It's like if his roster was swapped with Team Rocket's roster.

+

    • Ash: Let's see, what are Arbok's attacks?

+

    • Head instructor: Jolteon, Agility attack!

+

    • (Jolteon starts running so fast it disappears and then reappears)

+

    • Ash: I remember! Arbok, Glare!

+

    • (Arbok's eyes start glowing and stops Jolton dead in its tracks)

+

    • Ash: Now squeeze it with your Wrap attack, now!

+

    • (Arbok coils around Jolteon, but its spikes cause it to leap in pain)

+

    • Ash: Oh, that was no good! I forgot about all of Jolteon's spikes!

+

    • Head instructor: Quick, Jolteon! Use the Thunder attack!

+

    • (The attack hits)

+

    • Ash: Arbok, no!

+

    • Sawako: Arbok is unable to continue! Jolteon wins!

+

    • Head instructor: Too bad you overloaded Jolteon's spikes. Sizing up your opponent before an attack is a fundamental rule!

+

    • Ash: Arbok, return!

+

    • (Arbok returns to its Pokeball)

+

    • Ash: Okay, third Pokeball, go!

+

    • (To the surprise of our heroes and Team Rocket, Ash's final Pokemon is a Meowth)

+

    • Ash: (chuckles) Meowth?!

+

    • Pikachu: Pika? ("Meowth?")

+

    • Brock: This oughta be interesting.

+

    • Ben: Indeed, Brock. He pretty much got all of Team Rocket's Pokemon for this test!

+

    • Togepi: Toge Toge! ("Yes, indeed.")

+

    • Meowth: Hey, Meowth! Good luck!

+

    • Ash: Let's see, Meowth's attacks are..

+

    • Meowth: Use the Fury Swipes!

+

    • (The test Meowth reacts to Team Rocket's Meowth's voice, as does Ash)

+

    • Head instructor: Pokeball, go!

+

    • (The head instructor's final Pokemon is revealed to be a Vaporeon)

+

    • Ben: (in thought) All three of Eevee's original evolutionary forms?

+

    • Ash: A Vaporeon. Okay, Meowth, use the Fury Swipes!

+

    • (Meowth leaps into battle)

+

    • Head instructor: Vaporeon, use your Ice Beam, now!

+

    • (The attack hits and Ash's Meowth is frozen solid)

+

    • Ash: Meowth!

+

    • Sawako: Meowth is unable to battle! Vaporeon wins! The test is over! Ash fails in a score of two points to one!

+

    • Head instructor: (returns Vaporeon) Looks like another victory for me.

+

    • Ash: That was fast.

+

    • Meowth: Look what you did! (starts scratching Ash's face) How could you treat a fellow Meowth that way?!? (kicks his frozen counterpart free) Sorry you had to go through that.

+

    • (Meowth's ability to speak intrigues the head instructor)

+

    • Head instructor: Say, now! I'd love to catch that talking Meowth there! Pokeball, go!

+

    • (However, a Flamethrower, a Vine Whip, and a Thunderbolt knock the Pokeball back, to the shock of our heroes and the head instructor)

+

    • Ben: (in thought) I thought this would happen.

+

    • (Standing in the middle of the battlefield are Jessie and James with their test Pokemon)

+

    • Head instructor: Return those Pokemon immediately!

+

    • Jessie: We're not taking orders from you anymore, Mr. exam man!

+

    • James: Now we're the ones who are going to test you!

+

    • Head instructor: What?

+

    • Jessie: Prepare yourself for trouble!

+

    • James: I suggest you make that double!

+

Pooh: Oh, bother. It's Team Rocket!

+

Gosalyn: I knew it!

+

    • Jessie: To protect the world from devastation!

+

    • James: To unite all peoples within our nation!

+

    • Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love!

+

    • James: To extend our reach to the stars above!

+

    • Bugmaster: Bianca. (removes her disguise)
    • Negaduck: I'm Negaduck — (removes his disguise) a rotten kind of guy!

+

    • Jessie: Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!

+

    • James: Surrender, now, or prepare to fight!

+

    • Meowth: Meowth! That's right!
    • Pooh: Don't interfere with my test! That is not very nice!
    • Negaduck: Nice guys finish last, tubby.
    • Brian: You know what? Just go home and study harder and you can try again next time!
    • Bianca: Unfortunately for you, flea bag, there won't be a next time. But now that we've rounded up all these Pokemon, it's payback time!
    • Negaduck: (laughs evilly) Pikachu, Ivysaur, Charizard, go! Get ready for a blitzkrieg, boys!
    • (The Pokemon respond)
    • Meowth: And I'm gonna teach you a lesson for picking on a Meowth!

(Brian just looks confused)

Brian: What the hel—? Gosalyn: We're not gonna let you do it!

Pooh: Go, Pikachu!

+

Pikachu: Pika!

Bianca: Ivysaur, the Vine Whip, now!

Negaduck: Charizard, Flamethrower, now! Burn 'em like weenies on a barbecue!Meowth: Pikachu, Thunder, now!

Brian: Listen up Ivysaur, Charizard, Pikachu! About face, now!

(The Pokemon obey immediately, to Team Rocket's shock, and go on the attack)

Gosalyn: Keen gear! How did you?

Pooh: Oh, they obeyed you because you're the one who raised all of them.

    • Brian: Very good, Pooh.
    • Pooh: Meowth, Weezing, Arbok, stop Team Rocket!
    • (The three Pokemon go on the attack)
    • Bianca: Stop it, Arbok! That hurts!
    • Meowth: Cut it out! Cut it out!
    • Negaduck: Weezing, you stupid good-for-nothing knob!! You're making me choke!!!
    • Pooh: Okay, Weezing, Explosion, now!
    • (Weezing self-destructs, making a gigantic hole in the battlefield and sending Team Rocket blasting off)

+

    • Jessie and James: Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!

+

    • (Later, the head instructor makes an announcement to the test takers)

+

    • Head instructor: I am terribly sorry, everyone. But Team Rocket's intrusion has interfered with the entire examination. We have to start over from the very beginning.

+

    • (The news shocks everyone, especially the girls)

+

    • Mio: WHAT?!?

+

    • Nurse Joy: You mean after all of that hard work we did?

+

    • Ben: Those crooks. Trust them to ruin everything. Oh well.

+

    • Head instructor: (to Ash) Well, young man, you did a fine job of getting rid of Team Rocket. What do you say? Do you want to give the test another try?

+

    • Ben: (in thought) Please refuse. Please refuse. Please refuse.

+

    • Ash: No thanks, sir, I don't think so.

+

    • Ben: (in thought) Thank heaven!

+

    • Head instructor: I'm sure you'll pass this time.

+

    • Ash: Oh, it's not that. I just think I'm better off getting badges my own way, with my own teacher, for now. Right Ben? Pikachu?

+

    • Pikachu: Pika! ("Oh, yeah!")

+

    • Ben: Correct, my student. Do you feel the same, Liam?

+

    • Liam: Sure do, coach.

+

    • Misty: You've proved your a great battler, after all.

+

    • Ash: Thanks, Misty. I guess so.

+

    • Misty: Well, if you learned that lesson, I'd say that the test really was worth taking.

+

    • Mio: It sure helped me conquer my fear of ghost type Pokemon.

+

    • Ash: Yeah, that's true, you two. Anyway, it sure was awesome to battle with all those different Pokemon!

+

    • Mio: I couldn't agree more! Especially with a Hitmonchan like Rocky!

+

    • Ben: Sounds like Rocky might have a new admirer.

+

    • (Later, our heroes are seen departing the testing facility)

+

    • Narrator: Many roads lead to the Pokemon League. Ash's chosen path is to win all eight gym badges. Only then can he continue to fulfill his dream of reaching the ultimate goal. Becoming a Pokemon master.

+

    • Azusa: It's been a couple days now, and no sign of Dusky anywhere. Where could he be?

+

    • (Suddenly they heard howling in the distance, then saw a beam of white light shining towards them)

+

    • Azusa: I know that sound. It's Dusky.

+

    • Liam: e.
