The Vampire of Notre Dame part 19 - Mavis Thought Manolo is Dead/Battling Emilia

  • Mavis: We've done it, Manolo! We've beaten them back! Come and see!
  • (Manolo doesn't move.)
  • Mavis: Manolo? Wake up! You're safe now.
  • (Mavis pauses, but still nothing.)
  • Mavis: Manolo? Oh, no!
  • (Mavis grabs a spoonful of water, and tries to make Manolo drink it. He doesn't.)
  • Mavis: Oh no.
  • (Mavis bursts into tears. The monsters hang their heads in sorrow and close the door. Emilia enters and touches Mavis on her hump.)
  • Mavis: (Sobbing) You killed him.
  • Emilia: It was my duty, horrible as it was. I hope you can forgive me. There, there, Mavis, I know it hurts. But now, the time has come to end your suffering... Forever!
  • (We see that Emilia has a dagger. As Emilia raises it to stab her, Mavis sees the shadow of the dagger. She turns and struggles with Emilia only briefly, before wresting the dagger from Emilia's hands and backing her into a corner.)
  • Emilia: Now, now, listen to me, Ariel.
  • Mavis: No, you listen! All my life you have told me the world is a dark, cruel place. But now, I see that the only thing dark and cruel about it is people like you!
  • (Emilia throws away the dagger.)
  • Manolo: Mavis?
  • (Mavis turns and sees Manolo lying on the bed.)
  • Mavis: Manolo!
  • Emilia: He lives!
  • (Emilia pulls out her sword.)
  • Mavis: No!
  • (Mavis grabs Manolo and runs out onto the balcony. Emilia follows, but when she gets outside, she sees nothing but gargoyles (including a Poppy 'goyle). After looking left and right, she looks out over the edge and finds Mavis hanging there with Manolo.)
  • Emilia: Leaving so soon?
  • (Emilia swings her sword, but Ariel dodges the blow by swinging to another spot. Down on the ground, the heroines stop to watch.)
  • June Del Toro: Look! Up there!
  • (Emilia goes to swing again.)
  • Mavis: Hang on!
  • (Mavis swings off again, just narrowly missing Emilia's sword. Finally, Emilia gets Mavis cornered.)
  • Emilia: I should have known you'd risk your life to save that matador wizard. Just as your own father died trying to save you.
  • Mavis: What!?!
  • Emilia: Now I'm going to do what I should have done twenty years ago!
  • (Emilia swings her cape, covering Mavis's head. But as she tries to throw Mavis off the balcony, the panicking Mavis pulls Emilia off as well. Now Emilia is hanging onto Mavis, who is hanging onto Manolo. Emilia throws her cape around another gargoyle, and pulls herself over.)
  • Manolo: Hold on. hold on.
  • (Emilia stands up and is about to swing at Manolo.)
  • Emilia: And She shall smite the wicked and plunge them into the fiery pit!
  • (The gargoyle, however, begins to crack. Emilia is thrown off balance, and hangs onto the gargoyle's head. Suddenly, the 'goyle comes to life in the form of Demona and roars. Emilia screams, and the now stone gargoyle breaks off, sending Emilia falling to her death.)
  • (Manolo is losing his grip on Mavis.)
  • Manolo: Mavis! Mavis!
  • (Mavis slips loose and begins to fall.)
  • Manolo: No!!!
  • (Mavis falls right along the building, close enough for Mavis to catch her several floors below and pull her back into the building. When Manolo sees who has caught her, she and Maria hug. Manolo comes running in. After Manolo hugs Mavis, she takes Manolo's hand and Maria's hand, and puts them together. Manolo and Maria kiss, and Mavis smiles broadly.
