  • Narrator: This is a story about the Stone of Cold Fire. It is about what happened with Stampy and his friends. You can read along with me in your book. And turn the page when you hear this sound.
  • (Magical Tune)
  • Narrator: Let's go to the Nature Valley of the world and begin.
  • Narrator: Once upon a time, in the Nature Valley, Cody was telling a story about his Uncle Tyrone. He was a flyer.
  • Chelsie: What?! Hold it right there. That's not even close to the way it happened.
  • Cody: Is too! He tell me all about it when me just nestling.
  • Chelsie: Well, he told you wrong.
  • Narrator: Just then the ground started rumbling and animals were walking along. They were land walkers.
  • (Magical Tune)
  • Narrator: Later that night, when everyone was asleep, Stampy woke up and saw a flying rock, and it hit a big rock that was shaped like a rhino.
  • Stampy: Wasn't that amazing?
  • Grandma Elephant: Wasn't what amazing, Stampy?
  • Stampy: You didn't see any of it?
  • Narrator: The next day, everyone had a meeting about what Stampy saw last night.
  • Stampy: I saw a flying rock. It flew real low and it shined like the Bright Circle, only blue, and it made a crackling sound like fire in the trees.
  • Narrator: Just then two ostriches named Martin and Mina heard the story of the flying rock, and it was extraordinary.
  • Martin: It's always like this, isn't it?
  • Mina: Yes, if they don't see it with their own eyes, it doesn't exist. What limited thinking.
  • Martin: Don't you ever wonder what's out there?
  • Narrator: They told Stampy what's beyond the Mysterious Beyond. It was known as a stone of cold fire. But nobody, not even Daddy Tuck believed Stampy's story. Except for Grandpa Elephant. Later, Stampy was sadly thinking about last night, and had a bright idea.
  • Stampy: If we found that Stone of Cold Fire, everyone could see it for themselves. That would prove I was telling the truth.
  • Cody: But you hear grown-ups. Smoking Mountains too dangerous.
  • Tyrone: Nonsense!
  • (Magical Tune)
  • Narrator: It was Cody's uncle Tyrone! He dropped by to visit his nephew.
  • Chelsie: What are you doing here?
  • Tyrone: Migrating, naturally, like the others out there in the field. Boldly searching an unforgiving wasteland, to find a more hospitable place to call home.
  • Narrator: He told Stampy and his friends that they could find the stone of cold fire with anybody getting worried.
  • Sykes: Well, we don't want nobody getting worried now, do we?
  • Randy: Oh, no, no. They might think something awful has happened to you. (Cackling)
  • Narrator: Tyrone slapped them in anger. It was his vulture friends Sykes and Randy.
  • Betty: Who are they?
  • Tyrone: Randy and Sykes? Never mind them. They're just tired from our long journey, and not thinking clearly.
  • Narrator: Then they all left. When they were playing pinecone bowling, Cody was feeling upset about Tyrone. Stampy tried to cheer him up.
  • Stampy: I'm sorry, Cody, but my grandparents told me to be careful around your uncle. Sometimes he uses his words to fool you.
  • Cody: Oh, yeah? Well-- Well, then, me in trouble, 'cause my friends acting like stinkbugs.
  • (Magical Tune)
  • Narrator: That night while everyone was asleep, Betty went to find Cody and make him feel better. But when she did, she heard Tyrone planning to rule the Nature Valley.
  • Tyrone: We will leave with the rest of the Land Walkers once the Great Night Circle starts to shrink.
  • Narrator: When Betty was about to tell Stampy about Tyrone, Sykes caught her captured her.
  • Cody: Where she going?
  • Stampy: Wherever your uncle and the other flyers are taking her.
  • Narrator: Cody felt guilty for this. Later next morning, Betty's mother was worried that they might never see Betty again. And all because of Tyrone.
  • Daddy Tuck: Bah! We couldn't trust him before, and we can't trust him now. And why didn't somebody tell me Tyrone was talking to the young ones?
  • Narrator: Grandpa Elephant told them about how Tyrone led the herd in the wrong direction. A number of animals, including those that would later form the Circle Of Elders when they reached the Nature Valley, decide to venture to the Valley together. Some animals, however, are coaxed by Tyrone to follow him to the "Nature Valley" instead. But after some travelling, an earthquake occurs, trapping the herd in a ravine, where all but Tyrone are slaughtered by a trio of hyenas.
  • (Magical Tune)
  • Narrator: While Tyrone and his goons were landing, Betty started to run away. But when she was running, she fell down a hole.
  • Tyrone: I was responsible for that little swimmer, and now I've lost her.
  • Narrator: Betty was safe and sound in a cave where nobody would find her.
  • Betty: When it comes to dark and scary places, I like them better when they are empty.
  • Narrator: Meanwhile, Stampy and his friends were looking for Betty. Chelsie, who wanted to go first, led them to a cave where Betty was found.
  • Betty: The Flyers chased me and I ran, and I fell through the top of a big cave into a big cold water, and I walked down this big crawl-hole, and then I found you.
  • Cody: Me not understand why Tyrone so mean!
  • Betty: Do not feel bad. Your uncle was not as mean as the other Flyers. He was very sad when they dropped me.
  • Narrator: Just then, Sykes swooped down and grabbed Betty! Tyrone and the other birds came back.
  • (Magical Tune)
  • Narrator: Betty bit Sykes toe causing him to drop her in the river.
  • Tyrone: You lummox. You dropped her.
  • Sykes: 'Course I dropped her! The little tapir bit me!
  • Narrator: As soon as Betty hit the river, she started to float downstream. Stampy made a raft to rescue her. The others went off with him to save Betty. Just when Sykes and Randy grabbed Tyrone, they hit a big rock and lost them. Later when Tyrone took his friends to a mountain from the rain, he told them that he was the most very important animal ever. But he was furious.
  • Tyrone: I'm sorry I ever met either of you. Go on, shoo!
  • Narrator: Not far down the mountain, Stampy and his friends were also looking for a place to get out of the rain. When they woke up the next morning, they found star leaves.
  • (Magical Tune)
  • Narrator: Martin and Mina, who had been in the cave all this time, knew a way to get to the stone of cold fire. They led Stampy and his friends into a cave.
  • Martin: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, keep your paws and tails away from the sides of the shaft. And I hope you find what you're looking for.
  • Mina: We both do.
  • Narrator: When the steam rose to the top, Stampy and his friends flew out of the cave. Chelsie, who pushed Cody from the falling rock that was gonna crush him, saved Cody.
  • Cody: Chelsie, you saved me.
  • Chelsie: Yeah? So, no big deal.
  • Narrator: Then they found the stone of cold fire. But Tyrone and the other birds came and told them they wanted the stone.
  • Tyrone: With the power of the Stone of Cold Fire, I will restore us to our rightful place in the world!
  • Narrator: But none of the powers worked. It was just a plain old rock.
  • (Magical Tune)
  • Narrator: Suddenly, Betty fell off the ledge of a cliff. Tyrone, who knew there was no magic in the stone, flew down to save Betty. As Randy and Sykes were pounding the stone, the stone started to break, sending Randy and Sykes flying away. When they returned home, Grandpa Elephant exiled Tyrone to the Mysterious Beyond.
  • Cody: I will miss you, Uncle.
  • Tyrone: I shall miss you, too. Cody. Then again, there are others I shan't miss at all.
  • Narrator: Stampy saw the ostriches looking up and the stars.
  • Stampy: Who are you guys?
  • Mina: Remember this, Stampy. There is much more to what you call the Great Circle of Life than you can possibly imagine.
  • (Magical Tune)
  • Narrator: What a night this turned out to be for Stampy. His friends came by and saw him talking. We knew Tyrone would return someday and prove that he can be trusted.
  • Cody: He not so smart after all.
  • Betty: Oh, no! Oh, no! But we are plenty smart, right, Matt?
  • (The End)
